Prevent Mosquito Bites and West Nile Virus
Last month, the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (GLACVCD) confirmed West Nile Virus in mosquito samples in Signal Hill and several surrounding cities. To prevent the spread of West Nile Virus (WNV) to humans, we must all do our part to reduce mosquito populations, prevent mosquito bites, and understand the signs and symptoms of WNV. Help reduce mosquito populations by removing standing water from around the home. Prevent mosquito bites by applying mosquito repellent before you go outside. Cover your skin with clothing to also prevent mosquitoes from biting.

GLACVCD officials recently gave a presentation on mosquitoes and WNV at the September 10 City Council meeting. You can view that presentation here. For additional information, please visit our website .
