"Going with Empty Hands"
The Jewish traditions of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur celebrate the importance of restoring balance to life by practicing forgiveness. Is it always right to ask forgiveness from those we have harmed, or forgiving those who have harmed us? Do rituals of atonement have something to teach us?

"Of Mountains and Dragons"
September is a time of crisp days, brilliant colors, and returning energy: a season for new ventures, new semesters and getting ready for the winter that will test us. It is also perhaps a season to strengthen our spirits. What I learned from celebrating Michaelmas.

Climate Strike Tomorrow!
Zoe Hart

As I hope most of you have already heard, tomorrow is the beginning of the Global Climate Strike, a youth-led week of protests beginning with demonstrations on September 20. In Burlington, there is a rally at City Hall from 12 to 2 p.m. ( details here). Check out  globalclimatestrike.net (scroll down to the map) to find events in other Vermont towns.

FUUSB will join other faith organizations around Vermont in showing our support for the climate strike by ringing our bells for one minute at noon on Friday at the start of the strike. If you'd like to help with the bell ringing - the space can accommodate up to five helpers - contact Zoe Hart at  [email protected]

Game Night - September 28
Erika Reif, Director of Lifespan Faith Development

Come join UU families and friends for  Game  NightWe will have  games  out to play and you are welcome to bring a favorite, too. Because any gathering is more fun with food, it's also a potluck, so bring a dish to share. Homemade or store-bought is fine! And you can skip the plates and utensils-we've got that covered!

Mark your calendar: Saturday September 28 from 5-8  p.m. in the Community Room. Come for a little bit or the whole time; bring all your ages (and your inner child, too) and play an old favorite or learn a new  game; our new Ping-pong table is also open and ready for play!  Childcare staff will have kids' games out or just play in the Nursery, whatever's needed to make the night fun for all! We look forward to having you join us!
