Natomas High football team honors former coach Sal Arriaga-Heredia

The Natomas High School (NHS) Football Team learned what it means to be committed and to persevere through the story of the late Sal Arriaga-Heredia, 2001 Natomas High School Graduate, Substitute Teacher, and NHS Football Coach.
At the September 6th football game, Sal was inducted to the NHS Wall of Honor, and a jersey was presented to his family. Sal's legacy will forever be remembered. Enjoy the video highlight by clicking here.

Inderkum graduates return to campus to receive IB diplomas or certificates
|
|
When the seniors in the IB World Program at Inderkum High School graduated last May, they celebrated the end of their high school journey and the beginning of the next chapter in their lives. Now, 19 of them can celebrate that they have earned the prestigious world-recognized IB Diploma, and 77 can celebrate earning IB Course Certification. Teachers of the Year Recognized at
Board Meeting

Our Teachers of the Year were recognized at the September 11th Board meeting for their dedication and many contributions that they give to our students. Each teacher was presented with a beautiful plaque that displayed their name and school. After the presentation, they joined the Board, their site leaders, family members, and friends for a reception in their honor.

College and career readiness indicators, starting as early as Elementary school
|
The vision of Natomas Unified School District is that all students graduate college and career ready. This is not something that begins in high school, but it starts in elementary school when we begin to monitor students' performance and progress.
We're pleased to report that we're seeing good progress of that with the latest review of our college and career readiness indicators. We're seeing improvements in our CAASPP achievement, a state exam to measure student achievement; A-G completion rate, courses that are required for admission to CSU/UC college system; Graduation rate; CTE participation; and many other measures that help us to monitor how we're doing preparing each of our students for college and the workforce. NUSD prepares for Hispanic Heritage Month

Natomas Unified will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15 - October 15, with a variety of events, lessons, guest speakers, and activities at various schools. We will feature some of those events on our social media channels, school and district websites, and in future newsletters.

NUSD and City of Sacramento break ground for North Natomas Community Center and Aquatics Facility

It's official! Together with the City of Sacramento and the Natomas community in full support, we broke ground for the North Natomas Community Center and Aquatics Facility
at a special event on Thursday, September 5.

Paso Verde scholars recognized for exemplifying 'Caring' all month long
|
PVS staff surprised scholars at their homes with yard signs for demonstrating the IB Learner Profile attribute "Caring" all month long. Each month, staff will select a different attribute from the IB Learner Profile and honor students who highly demonstrate it. Congratulations to the 29 pumas selected for August. As you drive around Natomas, you will see these signs proudly displayed on lawns, porches, windows, and in homes.

We are looking for NUSD alumni who are in their final stages of earning their bachelor's degree and considering a career in education to apply to Natomas Unified's Diverse Future Teacher program. We are also looking for current district employees with a bachelor's degree who plan to pursue their teaching credential.
