Associate Professor Yvonnes Chen
's work, "Resisting Persuasive Intent," has been published in the International Encyclopedia of Media Literacy (Wiley & Sons). The encyclopedia is edited by

(professor of communication studies and director of the Media Education Lab at the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island) and
Paul Mihailidis
(associate professor of civic media and journalism in the school of communication at Emerson College in Boston).
Associated Professor Yvonnes Chen
was an invited panelist to present her latest research at the Mindfulness for Peace and Well-being: Buddhist and Therapeutic Applications Symposium on Sept. 14. This symposium brought together experts in East Asian and Buddhist Studies as well as the professions of social work, urban planning, journalism and psychiatry to explore the uses of mindfulness in contemporary societies. Chen talked about her text-mining project on campus mindfulness activities as reflected in close to two decades of student media coverage.

kicks off at KU with the Suffrage Anniversary Launch Event at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Dole Institute of Politics. The free event will feature suffrage historians

J-School Career Fair set for Oct. 24
|
The J-School Career Fair for the fall semester is set for Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Adams Alumni Center across from the Kansas Union. The fair, scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m., will be held in conjunction with the annual J-School Generations event. A photo booth will be available for students to have professional LinkedIn photos taken. After the fair, students are welcome to join KU alums for networking and games at 4:30-6 p.m. at the Alumni Center. Approximately 30 organizations plan to attend, sharing internship and job opportunities, and J-School Generations alumni will be on site for networking and mentoring. As of Sept. 16, the following companies have committed to the fair:
