New Survey to Assess Needs of Young Parents *
We are looking for service providers to recruit parents 18 to 29 years of age to participate in a survey about their needs as young parents. Those who complete a 10-minute online survey will get a chance to win a $100 gift card (20 prizes will be awarded). The survey is available in English, Spanish or Haitian Creole.
This survey is being conducted as part of an Annie E. Casey Foundation-funded research effort by community service organizations across Miami-Dade County to learn about the needs of young adult parents. We know some families that you work with are struggling. Everyone is navigating through things that we have never had to deal with before. In an earlier survey from The Children’s Trust, you indicated needs of families and your desire to assist. But how can you help them to express their concerns and link them to resources that will aid them during this time?
Navigating Uncertainty: Helping Families Cope with COVID-19, a new course in Trust Academy, offers suggestions for looking for less obvious needs, listening to understand the concerns of others, and linking families with ideas for coping and resources to access in the community.

Synergy Symposium Speaker Series Tomorrow
Equity and resilience mapping with integrated data: Aligning early childhood needs, resources, and policies. This 2-hour event will explore how big-picture data can improve Miami-Dade child outcomes, bringing together early learning practitioners, researchers, and community advocates. Young Talent Big Dreams Countywide Competition Moves Online
The show must go on! Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, together with presenting sponsor The Children’s Trust, have gone virtual to reopen auditions for the 10th anniversary season of Young Talent Big Dreams (YTBD), the most widespread talent competition for youth in the county. The competition will continue with kids between the ages of 8-17 submitting preliminary round audition videos that showcase their talents. Prizes remain the same and the semifinals and finals will be held in front of live audiences in late August and September, respectively, at The Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, conditions permitting.

If you haven't received an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census online, or have but have not yet done so, there is still time. Options to fill out the census are available online, by phone or by mail. As providers, you are in a unique position to help direct families on filling out the census and informing them that it's safe, easy and important. Remember, the individuals you serve are often those who will most benefit from an accurate census count.

How Nonprofits Can Participate in Listen4Good Co-Funded Grants *
Since 2016, Fund for Shared Insight has made more than 260 co-funded Listen 4Good (L4G) grants totaling nearly $11 million, enabling more than 130,000 individuals served by nonprofits nationwide to share their opinions. In order to apply to participate in Listen4Good’s co-funded grant rounds, nonprofits must be nominated by one of their current funders (existing or new). If the nominated nonprofit is selected to participate in L4G, the nominating funder will contribute $15,000 of the $30,000 grant total for each nonprofit selected. (Note: Funders can nominate more than one nonprofit.)
Selected nonprofits will receive:
- $30,000 during an 18-month grant period, $20,000 in the first year and $10,000 in the final six months
- Paid access to a premium SurveyMonkey account
- Unlimited access to Listen4Good's interactive, resource-filled website, which includes step-by-step guides to implementing feedback loops
- One-one-one support from an L4G coach

Reading Explorers Share Tips to Boost Literacy Online *
If your summer camp or early childhood program is planning to offer virtual, in-person, or combined services for children, Reading Explorers is available with technical and instructional remote support this summer. This Friday, Reading Explorers coaches will demonstrate how to use advanced features in zoom to boost literacy and will share resources for providing virtual reading comprehension and fluency interventions within one-hour zoom coaching sessions.
