We have exciting news to share!

LVCC will be opening its “doors”

on August 11, 2020.

Literacy Volunteers of Central CT’s mission is to “change lives through literacy.” Our mission is even more important today. Due to COVID-19, many of our students have lost their jobs or are having more difficulty finding work. They face increased barriers because of a lack of basic skills. They also may lack digital literacy and will be unable to help themselves and their children with online learning.

Our students need our help!

We are taking many precautions for students and tutors who wish to return after almost four months of being closed for on-site learning.

As we work to welcome our tutors and students back to both indoor and outdoor learning, we are adhering to Board of Health recommendations.

Because of COVID-19, LVCC had to take on unexpected costs. And we will continue to need supplies in order to operate safely.

Your donation today can help meet these costs:

Outdoor canopy ($90 each)
Plexiglass dividers for our tables ($100 each)
New workspace partitions between teaching stations ($300 each)
Recurring cost of hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and sprays, disposable masks (thanks to tutor Louise Courchaine and Thrivent Action Team for donating a starter kit of PPE supplies)
Individual teaching supplies for each tutor, such as white board markers and erasers, paper, writing tools, and more
