Open Restaurants: DOT Safety Alert
Due to Tropical Storm Isaias expected to bring storm force and sustained wind speeds of 39 mph-74mph, the DOT requires that restaurants bring in ALL outdoor furniture (tables, chairs, umbrellas, tents, planters and any hardware). Barriers and platforms may remain on the street but must be weighed down for extra protection. This alert is effective Tuesday morning August 4 to Wednesday morning August 5.
NY State COVID Rental Assistance Program for Households - Extended to August 6

NY State Governor Andrew Cuomo COVID Rental Assistance program opened for application on July 16, 2020 was extended until August 6. The program assists households with income below 80% of area median; paying more than 30% income on rent before March 1, 2020; if they lost income between April 1-July 31, 2020. Eligible households can receive a one-time rental subsidy that covers the difference between their “rent burden” on March 1, 2020 and their “rent burden” for the months they are applying for assistance. Households may apply for one month or up to four months of assistance during this period. This one-time subsidy is paid directly to the resident’s landlord. This is intended to be a more comprehensive guide to reopening for Bars and Restaurants, and beyond the “What to Expect When You’re Inspected, includes information on reopening, safety, operating, inspections, and important signage on public health. Federal PPP Loan Program Continues Open for Applications until August 8th
The U.S. Congress passed an extension of the Paycheck Protection Program, which will keep the program open to applications until August 8th. Find more information here
New York Forward Loan Fund still open - for small businesses that lost rental income
The NYFLF is aimed at supporting New York State small businesses, nonprofits and small landlords as they reopen after the COVID-19 outbreak and NYS on PAUSE. The NYFLF targets the state’s small businesses with 20 or fewer full-time equivalent (FTE) employees (90% of all businesses), nonprofits, and small landlords that have seen a loss of rental income. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as regions and industries reopen. The results will also inform how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated to more than 100 programs, including Medicaid, Head Start, etc.
