O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the works Thy hands have made...This week isthe final sermon of this series and focuses on the cosmos. Looking at the sky, one sees a sprawling, expansive, and vast universe which in many ways reflects our image of God as immeasurable and limitless. But even the cosmos is not immune to our presence. The air we breathe and the protective layers are being greatly compromised and damaged. How can we better appreciate and nurture God’s beautiful, yet fragile cosmos?

Have you ever seen someone holding a rosary, and wondered what they were praying? This is actually a very early church practice that started by using knotted rope, with the knots or beads helping one to recite prayers. Come and learn about these prayers and other aides, which can be used to enhance our personal spirituality and prayer life.

MAKING SENSE OF THE BIBLE

The world’s bestselling, most-read, and most-loved book is also one of the most confusing. Is the Bible ever wrong? Did Jesus really teach that everyone who is not a Christian will be assigned to hell? Why would Paul command women to “keep silent in the church?” Is the Book of Revelation really about the end times? Who decided which books made it into the scriptures and why? In this series, taught by Rev. Nancy and Rev. Vickie, we will give a Biblical overview and address some of the hot-button social issues that continue to create deep divisions among denominations. In the end, we will gain a new understanding and appreciation of the Bible so that we can hear God speak through it and find its words to be life-changing and life-giving. The class is based on the book by Adam Hamilton. (Purchase of book is optional).
