Fall Grounds Work Day
 
It is the time of year to clean-up Trinity’s gardens and lawns in preparation for winter. The Property Team has designated Saturday, November 20 from 9:00 a.m. to noon as the second of two fall workdays. Bring your favorite tools and gloves and a friend. Lots of volunteers are needed to cover all of the grounds. Contact Peter Green at 860-236-1457 or pmgreen76@gmail.com with any questions.

IS THERE FAIR HOUSING IN CONNECTICUT? 
            
           Last Sunday, Taniqua Huguley and Erin Boggs of Open Communities Alliance (OCA) outlined for us the shocking degree of housing segregation in Connecticut and summarized the causes of the racial and economic disparities in access to housing and opportunity throughout our state. This Sunday, they will tell us about OCA’s efforts to address these issues, and let us know how we can help.
           The forum will be held in the sanctuary after the 10 o’clock service, and will be live-streamed and recorded as well. Those who attended last week’s forum had high praise for the presenters and the information they shared. Trinity's 2021 "Giving Tree" Arrives 11/21!

This Advent, we are continuing Trinity's tradition of a "Giving Tree" - a tree set up in the Sanctuary, loaded with tags that list wishes from students at Trinity Academy and children from the Adopt-A-Social Worker program of Covenant to Care. 

Parishioners who wish to participate will chose a tag on this or a subsequent Sunday, purchase the item and place the gift under the tree by Sunday 12/12. We are committed to these children, and it is important that gifts be returned by this date so that they may be distributed. 

We have been asked to provide:
- $25 gift cards to either Target or Walmart for 20 students of Trinity Academy (Asylum Hill Congregational Church is providing gift cards to the other 20 students) and 
- Actual gifts as requested for 20 children through Covenant to Care. 

With only 3 weeks to shop for and return the gifts, our elves will need to work quickly!

Directions:
  1. Choose a 2-part tag from the Giving Tree in front of the baptistery. 
  2. Write your name and telephone # on one tag and place it in the basket, keep the other one.
  3. Purchase the gift item, place it unwrapped in a gift bag and attach your tag to the bag.
  4. Return the bag to the Giving Tree table by Sunday, 12/12
If you would like to participate, but will not be at Trinity in-person to select a tag by 11/28, or if you have questions, please contact me.

Holy Land Giving Tree -
AFEDJ: Help for Ahli Arab Hospital
 
The Holy Land Giving Tree is back! The Outreach team will again offer pictures of the needy children of the Diocese of Jerusalem and offer festive olive wood ornaments for your own tree or as a gift for a loved one. We will be supporting again the Ahli Hospital in Gaza where all people are in great need of medicine, electricity and everyday needs. This is our international outreach to a place where our own religion started. Covid 19 has been just as horrible in the Diocese of Jerusalem as here. If you can’t make it to church, we ask that all checks be made out to AFEDJ (American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem) with Ahli Hospital in the memo. Donate at church or send checks to 106 Vista Way, Bloomfield CT 06002. All monies are sent in weekly directly to the AFEDJ center.
Look for our table 3 Sundays : Nov. 28, Dec. 4 and 11 before and after the 10:00 service.

Hope for Healing

You are invited to join us for an Advent Quiet Day on December 4th from 10am-2:30pm, at Trinity Church. During our time together we will lament the broken places in our lives and in our world that are in need of healing and celebrate our journeys to healing and hope. There will be opportunities for small group sharing and multiple options for individual reflection and centering. Lunch will be provided only for those who signup at www.trinityhartford.org/quietday

Trinity Book Group: 14 January 2022

Go Tell It on the Mountain by James Baldwin is the story of the teenage stepson of the minister of a storefront Pentecostal church in Harlem one Saturday in March of 1935. Trinity's book group will discuss this classic novel at its meeting on January 14th, 7:00-9:00 pm. All are welcome to attend! Martha Freimuth will host this meeting at her home, with attendees wearing masks. Please contact her for more information and to let her know if you're planning to attend.
