MEMBER NEWSLETTER: OCTOBER 2018 EDITION
BRINGING TOGETHER WOMEN OF PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AND INFLUENCE IN THE COMMUNITY
NOVEMBER MEETING RECAP
The featured speaker was our very own member, Lorrie Sage, Owner of  Special Occasions East, Inc . Lorrie shared her personal career path which has led to owning and expanding her very own local business providing linens, chairs and other special event accessories.

After working in the dental field for 30 years, Lorrie decided she wanted to start a business with her sisters. The idea for Special Occasions came to her after a hectic experience handling all the linens for her daughter's wedding.

She discussed the small steps that lead to her success, her trial and error learning experiences and how she leaned on her friends and family for support during the early stages of her business. The core values of her business are community over competition, excellent customer service and creating a culture of respect with employees and customers.

Lorries highly encourages women to support each other's businesses and be a part of organizations like Flint Women's Forum to network and build relationships.

NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER CHARITY PARTNER ACTIVITY
For our November and December charitable activity, the Flint Women's Forum is collecting "holiday knickers" for the women at St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center in North Flint.

FWF members are invited to bring packages of new women's underwear to our meetings to donate to St. Luke as Sister Carol has informed us that this is one of their highest needs.

We recommend multi-packs of briefs from Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, etc. All sizes, especially larger sizes, are appreciated. Feel free to invite your friends, family and co-workers to contribute if they would like.

Click HERE for the Holiday Knickers Project on Facebook if you would like to share.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Community Involvement Chair, Crystal Pepperdine, at  [email protected].
