Director's Note
I hope you had a good first week back from winter break.

We truly hit the ground running with activities around January's IvyMoves Movement Month. Check out the details below and watch a video created by our OTPTAPE team below.

We encourage you to mark your calendars and attend the MANSEF Advocacy Day in Annapolis, MD on Tuesday, Feb 4. Parent representation is crucial in helping us explain to legislators and department officials the important role of nonpublic schools and the differences among them. Register at this link.

Have a great week.

Newspapers Needed!
Do you have newspapers that you could recycle at Ivymount? The art room is running low on newspaper and would appreciate any donations. Send them in your student's backpack or drop off at the front desk. Thanks!
There are already more than 30 exhibitors registered for the Special Needs Resource Fair, including professionals in financial planning, attorneys, recreational activities, therapy services, academic resources, advocacy and parent groups.

Make sure to let us know if there’s an exhibitor or a topic that you would like us to consider.

Movement Month
Kicks Off with Step Challenge
January is Movement Month at Ivymount and students are "walking through our communities." During PE and fitness class, students are wearing an Ivymount pedometer to record steps, which will be combined to walk through the many counties from which students attend Ivymount. They're already making great headway. Check out the map near the front entrance of Ivymount to see their progress.

Each week, the Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Adapted Physical Education team will share information on different ways to stay active. This week, the team has put together a one-minute video to show how all of us can get exercise, at any ability or fitness level, simply by doing the things families already do.

IvyMoves Community Event
with ZamDance
Saturday, Feb 1
1:30 pm

We're going to close out Movement Month with a high-energy event for the whole Ivymount community. On Saturday, Feb 1, join us in the gymnasium for a one-hour ZamDance workout. ZamDance combines fitness moves such as jumping jacks, squats, and punches, with basic dance moves, all set to merengue, pop, and hip-hop music.

Designed for children and adults of all abilities, ZamDance encourages participants to enjoy movement and music in their own way and at their own pace.

Bring the whole family!

Let's Keep Clipping Box Tops

Box Tops are transitioning from clippable to scannable, but there are still paper Box Tops on some products in stores. All money collected goes to the Ivymount PTA to use towards family events. Please send your clipped Box Tops in a plastic bag with your child's name and room number. You can also download the app and scan the new scannable Box Tops. The next collection date for clippable Box Tops will be Tuesday, February 18. Look for Box Tops labels on a variety of products.
