PortSide has events in October, and we could sure use your help with them. No experience necessary.
Carolina is away on vacation from 9/22 until late 10/7, so please email me at Peter@portsidenework.org or call me on 917-414-0565. I will have the PortSide cellphone with me during Carolina's absence.

The works of three artists will be on display on the MARY A. WHALEN. We need a few folks to join us for last minute setup, welcoming visitors and being a friendly PortSide presence as people walk around the ship. Just a few folks are needed for this, each day.
Donna Maria deCreeft's a
rt inspired by diatoms (single-cell algae).
Donna was a resid
ent artist in the Captain's Cabin here this June.
Katherine Behar's sound installation "Maritime Messaging," originally presented on the 5th anniversary of Sandy, will be reprised.
PortSide contributed all the text from RedHookWaterStories.org that Behar put through a neural network to "teach water to talk." A video presents moving water, with an AI voice speaking the WaterStories language it learned while displaying the words over the video.
Private party, Sat 10/12/2019, 8pm to 1am
We have 50 people coming for the 40th birthday party of a regular at our programs, so we expect a supportive guest and party; but we could use 2 people to help tidy up, etc. The food is being catered.
Saturday, October 19, 11:00 - 6:00 pm
PortSide participates in OHNY
The Mary Whalen will
again
be part of Open House New York, when interesting spaces across the city are open to the public. We need folks to help with all the curious visitors, tell them about our ship (c
rib sheets will be provided, you will likely be asked to speak about only one cabin or space and tough questions can just be punted)
, hang at the
Salty Selfies
station, etc. We are hoping for at least 7 volunteers that day.
