KEEP SMILING!
SPEED AND AGILITY TRAINING!!
Message from your President
Welcome to Fall 2019 - believe it or not!

A new season brings change - this is a strong component of various religions and beliefs, and Autumn is also considered a time of reflection and preparation for what's to come.

The change of seasons is also a time of turmoil, and we realize that many of our families are facing turmoil and uncertainty in their lives, and that this is tough on relationships within those families.

We want you to know you are not alone in these tough times, and that there are many opportunities available within our community for relief and encouragement.

One of those is Calvary Training, a program for youth age 6+ that runs throughout the school year. This program provides sports training that is usually only available at much higher costs and sometimes great distances from us - both of which only add to the pressures and tensions some families are feeling - in trying to provide 'the best' for their children.

Calvary Training is not for everyone - they simply offer this program to anyone who wishes to try it, and who feel their children and family will benefit from it.

Drew, Amanda and their staff are dedicated to helping children reach their full potential, and they know the sacrifice and discipline needed to succeed at a high level, and the strong foundation needed to reach that level.

Please read the article below with that in mind, and if you would like to try Calvary Training for your child - great! If it's not for you at this time, that's great too - we'll keep searching the area for innovative programs, and keep coming up with them ourselves as well!

We wish you and your family a wonderful fall, and a fun-filled fall soccer season!

Very best regards,

Whitey

Making a Difference

Pastoral Intern

Calvary Training started in September of 2015 as a ministry of Calvary Chapel Morgantown. We started this ministry under Kevin McCadam, who was still on staff at WVU as a strength & conditioning coach with the football program.

Sports are a huge influence in our community, and both WVU and youth sports have a prominent role in many families. There are many good things that come with sports but there are also things that accompany this zeal for sports that can be destructive. We see this as a need and it has been our goal to use sports to reach into our community here in Cheat Lake and meet the needs of families.

The vision of Calvary Training is to impact and reach kids and families for Jesus Christ. To redeem families from the craziness or obsessiveness that can come along with sports. Using our love for sports and physical training as a tool has helped to build relationships and has given us the opportunity to share the hope and life that lies in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

We focus our training from the perspective of a three pronged approach, training the body, mind and spirit. Much of training for sports is focused on the first two aspects with neglect to the spiritual component. God has created us as spiritual beings. There is a desire, a longing within all of our souls for something more. That void, that space, we seek to fill with many other things, only to find them fleeting and unfulfilling. That space is designed, it is God shaped and can only be filled by a relationship with God, and that is what we are endeavoring to instill in our kids that come to Calvary Training.
We challenge our young athletes physically and mentally by using basic total body strength exercises, speed development drills, agility drills and conditioning protocols, but most importantly, we focus on training them spiritually and teaching them the importance of cultivating a dependence on God, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We want the kids to develop an understanding that to navigate and stand amidst the changing culture in our society, our core foundation, our true agility and strength come only from the Lord!
We welcome all kids from the Cheat Lake and greater Morgantown community to get involved. It truly has been amazing to see what God has done and continues to do through Calvary Training. New kids and new families from many different fellowships and diverse backgrounds, continue to come and we feel blessed to be a part of the ongoing work that God is doing here at Calvary Chapel.
Thank you, God bless and I encourage you as we do our kids to exercise yourself toward godliness!

Parents!
We can't say it enough - THANKS for all your doing to get your kids to training and matches. We know it's not as easy as you can make it look!

We encourage you to get involved with improving your club this season, and knowing how busy everyone is, we are trying to include projects that can be worked on during your childs training sessions, so you don't have to take extra time to help, or need to feel guilty about not coming out to help - since you're there already, let's just knock something out!

We'll be sending out a list of projects we know about, and are looking for input from you on things you see that need to be done! We'll also have a list on the bulletin boards- check them out, and see what we can all do together!

One thing we'd really like to do this spring is paint some silhouettes of soccer player son the bathroom doors at both Cheat lake and Laurel Point! We'd also like to paint in the words 'Boys' and 'Girls' in all the languages represented in the club! So - if you have ANY artistic abilities or impulses at all, this will be a FUN project to get in on!!

If you have any questions, or want to lead any small projects, please shoot us an email!  [email protected]
