Lightning Systems High Capacity Battery Storage

, a Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition sponsor, has introduced the “Lightning Mobile,” a mobile charging station that can be van, truck or trailer mounted. The Lightning Mobile is a high capacity battery storage system with one 80kW DCFC and two L2 EVSE that can be dispatched for a roadside charge, support vehicles at a remote site or provide on-site power management to avoid peak charges.

Over the past 10 years, battery costs have dropped from $1,000/kWh to $200/kWh. Over the past two years a consortium of labs and universities, “Consortium 500,” has been working to double the amount of energy that can be stored in a battery from the current level of about 220 Wh/kg to 500Wh/kg while maintaining cycle life equivalent to current batteries.

Lordstown Motors has announced that they will be the first EV pickup truck on the market with plans to produce 20,000 “Endurance” EV pickup trucks in 2021. The Endurance is advertised to have a 250 mile range, a top speed of 80mph and a five star crash test score.

New Hydrogen Fueling Dispenser

Air Liquide, an international supplier of hydrogen for industrial and transportation applications, has developed a new hydrogen fueling dispenser with twin 10,000psi (700 bar) nozzles capable of fueling more fuel cell cars quickly.

Plug-in vehicle sales represented 1.9% of all vehicle sales in 2019. Plug-in sales growth in Europe grew by 3% and in China by 5%.

For the week ending 5/22/20, refineries in California produced 217,182 gallons of gasoline and 80,682 gallons of diesel. This represents DECREASE in gasoline production of 5%, and a 16% DECREASE in diesel production from last week.
