Pumpkin Chuck... #smash
Barbell Weights Needed
The trebuchet team is making a few design tweaks so they can launch a 20 pound pumpkin this year! They need more weight to make this happen and are looking for 45, 35, or 25 pound barbell weights. If you have any that they could use, please contact Matt Sample at: mattjsample@gmail.com

Calling All Woodworkers!

Drop Off and Pick Up

A few reminders from school teachers and staff about drop off and pick up procedures:
  • Cars are prohibited from pulling up along the bus lane on Observatory Ave. to drop off students.
  • No pets allowed. If you walk your dog to pick up, please wait on the blacktop outside the fence north of the sports court.
  • Stay out of mulched planting beds.
Help Us Make Happy Hyde Park even HAPPIER!

A group of parents from the Hyde Park School PTO, Local School Decision-Making Committee (LSDMC), and Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) have reached out to the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education about the need for more space and updated facilities at our school. We submitted a letter with a request that the district build an addition onto the school. You can find the letter  here . We recently presented our request to the Board's Student Achievement Committee and they encouraged us to continue to have parents raise their voice at various board and committee meetings. If you would like to get involved in this effort or have any questions, please email  president@hydeparkschoolpto.org .
Extracurricular Activities

**Reminder- Karate starts Monday Sept. 16th**

Sports Spotlight
Eagle of the Week- Jillian Bantel
In our first week back, we would like to recognize a very special player as Eagle of the Week. Not only is Jillian Bantel an awesome young lady, she is also a great teammate. Jillian is in the first grade, but on the soccer field you would think she was a seasoned pro. This past weekend she courageously took to the field and entered as goalie against a very good opposing team. Jillian showed no fear as she dove left to right blocking shots like it was her job. Even in the face of the opponent and at risk of getting kicked, Jillian put her team first diving into the huddle to secure the ball. She is a positive force both on and off the field and we are proud to call her an Eagle.  Congrats  Jillian!

Simply email  hps.athletics@outlook.com  by Thursday afternoon with your Eagle of the Week submissions.
Basketball Registration

Basketball registration is already upon us. Registration will open on Thursday, September 19th at 6:00 PM . Unlike other sports, it is critical to right size the teams to ensure the best experience for all involved. Therefore, we will utilize a wait list should any division surpass the roster maximums. We will not open a second team unless there are enough players registered to play. In short, if you are placed on a waitlist DO NOT PANIC. A second team may still be formed at which point you would be contacted. Registration will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. DO NOT WAIT. Only registrations that are in the system will matter – an email expressing interest or a comment on the playground that your child would like to play will not count! We need to have an audit process in place. There is far less flexibility in basketball organization vs volleyball, soccer or running club. In case your child does not get placed on a team, we will do everything we can to work with the league and other area schools to find an alternative. We have instructional programs for Kindergarten and 1st grade and we will field as many teams as we need to in these divisions. For grades 2nd– 6th, we participate in the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League and need to adhere to their roster maximum and minimums. Please visit our website for more information. Thanks so much for your understanding, patience, and for resisting the urge to send angry emails addressed to our all VOLUNTEER organization!

Go Eagles!
