Westchase District Apartment Communities to Celebrate
National Night Out

National Night Out is celebrated annually to encourage neighbors and communities to get to know each other and their local law enforcement officials. (Fun Fact: NNO is celebrated in August in most states. But some years ago, organizers in Texas saw the wisdom of moving NNO to the slightly cooler climate of October.)

Apartment communities throughout Westchase District will be hosting National Night Out events on Tuesday, October 1. These events are designed to get neighbors out of their homes to meet one another, as well as to meet members of the Westchase District Patrol. It's a free, fun and positive way to connect with community law enforcement -- and a wonderful opportunity to show your support for officers in the community.

Everyone can get in on the fun by participating in Westchase District's National Night Out selfie contest. Here's how it works:
  1. Take a selfie at your community's National Night Out event, tag it #WestchaseNNO, also tag your apartment community and post your selfie to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. You'll be eligible to win one of five $25 restaurant gift cards. Each participant will be entered in the prize drawing only once.
  2. We'll announce the winners Friday, October 4 on our social media platforms, so stay tuned!

Fall Temps May Not be on the Way, but Fall Vegetables are...

Next Monday September 23 marks the autumnal equinox, the exact moment when the sun crosses the celestial equator, escorting cooler temperatures, jaw-dropping seasonal color and the official start of Fall to Houston. (Cue the scratched record sound.) Two out of three isn't bad.

While we won't experience crisp, cool air or orange and yellow foliage, we can experience the fall vegetable crop at the Westchase District Farmers Market.

The d'Agrella family from  PEAS Farm will soon be bringing kale, collards and hydroponically-grown lettuces to the market, plus broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts. Wait a few weeks and they'll have pie pumpkins and squash.

Texas' year-round growing season is one of the unique things about shopping at the farmers market.

Leafy greens, acorn squash, pie pumpkins and butternut squash will soon be making their way to the market. Shop each week to enjoy locally-grown seasonal produce.

Houston West Chamber to Host Mayoral Forum

Eight candidates are expected to participate in HWCOC's Mayoral Forum on Thursday, September 26. Individual tickets for the breakfast event may be purchased for just $50 or a table of six is $225. The forum will be held at Houston Community College's West Houston Institute. The following candidates have committed to participate: Sylvester Turner, Tony Buzbee, Bill King, Dwight Boykins, Sue Lovell, Kendall Baker, Naoufal Houjami and Derrick Broze.

Granite's Steve West Joins Westchase District Board
