Fall has officially arrived in Frederick County! Along with cooler temperatures, changing leaves and cozier clothing, September brings with it a new slate of events at OED.
 
At OED, we're busy preparing for our 19 th annual Business Appreciation Week. This celebration will take place from October 7 th -11 th . During this week, we will visit local companies to thank them for their work in making Frederick County a diverse and exciting place to be. Read more about Business Appreciation Week below.
 
This week is the 2019 Great Frederick Fair! We've been having a blast visiting the vendors, eating yummy fair food and working with local vendors at the Homegrown Frederick Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries Showcase.
 
We're experiencing a lot of change at the moment. See all the projects we're wrapping up and all the events we're planning for the fall in this month's newsletter.

Business Appreciation Week 2019
During the week of October 7th-11th, groups of ambassadors will be visiting over 100 Frederick County businesses that support our local economy and recognizing them as "Hometown Business Heroes."

2019 Ag Awards
OED, in conjunction with the Great Frederick Fair and the Ag Education Public Relations Committee, is proud to give four awards to recognize families, individuals and businesses for their outstanding achievements in agriculture each year.
ROOT to Hold First Video Pitch Competition
For the past year, the Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) has been recording and putting together pitch videos through the Business Pitch Services at the ROOT building. After a year of pitches, it's the perfect time to take a look back at some of the great videos that were created.

Entrepreneur Spotlight: Xavier Bruce
As his military retirement date got closer, Dr. Bruce sought out a life coach to help him with this big transition. After struggling to find a coach he could relate to, he decided to fill the niche himself and train to become one.

What goes into being a Main Street Manager? Town of Middletown's Becky Axilbund gave OED a look into her position. 

New Business: Tree Trekkers
Just off Route 144, you will find one of Frederick's newest additions: Tree Trekkers. The wooded area spanning 30 acres, tucked away from the highway, proved to be the perfect location. 

FREDERICK'S TOP 50 CEOs 
Jim & Pete Plamondon, Michael Planz, Jim Racheff and Bill Richman & Kevin Klink  are the Top 50 CEOs highlighted this month. 
The Top 50 CEO list includes criteria based on the CEO's individual responses on the following: Strategic leadership concepts, Significant growth under his or her leadership, Number of employees, Tenure, Company's turnover rate, Company's median salary, Number of nominations the CEO received and CEO's involvement in the community.

2 Flex/R&D Buildings and Warehouse Building - Under Construction

Arcadia Business Park is a 61-acre  business community located off MD Route 85 (Buckeystown Pike). The initial phase of development will include two flex/R&D buildings and one warehouse/distribution building. On completion, the project will consist of more than 585,000 sq. ft. of flex/R&D and warehouse/distribution space. Each building will feature dock and drive-in loading and ample parking.
