Arabian Horse Industry is Well Represented at USEF Pegasus Awards

Arabian horses and members were recognized for their outstanding performances and service at the Pegasus Awards at the US Equestrian Annual Meeting.

The following were recognized for their competitive achievements in 2019:

Stanley White III - Barbara Worth Oakford Trophy
Cheryl Van Deusen - Becky Grand Hart Trophy
Chris Bickford - Bill Robinson Trophy
Kim Morgan - Norman K. Dunn Trophy
Liz Bentley - Vaughan Smith Trophy

The following were recognized for their service to the sport:

Bill Hughes - Pegasus Medal of Honor
Cedar Ridge Farm - Ellen Scripps Davis Memorial Breeders' Award

Hello my name is Maggie Harrison and I am a PL SQL Developer in the Business Technology Department. I have worked for AHA a total of 11 years with 8.5 years as the Awards Processor in Competitions Department and 2.5 years as a Developer in the BT Department.

1) If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?

A physical book with some of my favorite novels and my family.

2) If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

I would be a house cat.

3) What’s your favorite time waster?

I lose myself in books for hours at a time.

4) What hobbies do you have outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy hiking in beautiful Colorado, taking pictures, reading books and hanging out with my husband and two cats.

5) What’s your favorite thing about working at AHA?

I truly love my job and there are two things that make it really great. The wonderful people and being able to learn something new everyday.

Qualification Point and Score Increases

Qualification points have increased for both the Regional and National levels this year. Please remember that:

A first or second place at an AHA qualifying show automatically qualifies for the Regional Championship.
A Top Five at the Regional Championship, Pacific Slope and East Coast Championship qualifies for Nationals.
A Top Six at the Eastern or Western Canadian Breeders qualifies for the Nationals.
The qualification period remains the same, the previous year (2019) up to the close of entries (for the 2020 year).
Open qualifications can be used in some disciplines.
Working Western participation qualifications remain the same.
Qualification comes from the class section, Amateur and Amateur Owner have specific requirements.

Missed the December 31 ^st deadline?

You can still enroll your 2020 in-utero foal as a Breeding Entry for $500 and in the US and Canadian Halter Futurity Program for $170 per horse/per country. Enrollments must be postmarked/electronic transaction dated by February 15, 2020.
