BRINGING TOGETHER WOMEN OF PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AND INFLUENCE IN THE COMMUNITY
OCTOBER MEETING RECAP
Our speakers were Sister Carol and Miss KK from the St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center , which was selected by our members as the FWF Charity Partner for 2018-2019.

Sister Carol shared the story of the founding of the St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center after she provided a car seat and newborn clothes to a mother who had just given birth to a baby alone in an abandoned house in Flint. Sister Carol knew more needed to be done and co-founded the St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center with Sister Judy in an old Flint school.

Programs now include the food pantry, literacy program, employment preparation as well as several social enterprises businesses including commercial sewing and lawn care service.

Miss KK shared her personal story as a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual assault. She was one of the first women at St. Luke to complete the three-year Program of Life Change and earn her GED. She is now proud to be the receptionist at the Center.
