Stewardship of St. Paul's
|
|
As you will have heard this past Sunday, we are beginning our Stewardship Campaign. This is a time set aside to consider intentionally how we live into the life of a generous God, and how we respond in thanksgiving to all that we have been given. This is also a time when we plan intentionally for the future. There are so many possibilities in our parish's future - a more visible presence in our neighborhood, a more vibrant music ministry, a more versatile and robust use of our buildings, a more direct and effective engagement with those in need around us. Still, these will require the resources of time, talent, and treasure. What do you envision for St. Paul's? How will you respond in generosity? Very soon you will receive a letter accompanied by a pledge card. Please consider prayerfully how you will contribute to the future of St. Paul's. While you may not have yet received your letter, you can complete a pledge card found here. If you have any questions, contact Brian Whitfield our Bishop's Warden or Cindy Smith our Treasurer.

All Souls' Day
Dia de los Muertos
|
|
All Souls' Day is the day the Church sets aside to remember those who have died, praying for their "continual growth in love and service" and that they come into the fulness of God's promises.
At St. Paul's this year we will be building an altar in our side chapel. You are welcome to bring pictures of those being remembered, as well as offerings of food and flowers. The chapel will be open from 4.00pm and a rosary will be said at 4.30pm.
At 6pm there will be a Requiem Mass offered. As we have done in the past, names will be gathered and read at that service. We will also be remembering particularly those who have died due to COVID-19. To that end we are making a city-wide invitation, encouraging those who come to bring the names of anyone they want remembered. Do you know someone with a loved who has died? Invite them to St. Paul's on that night.
Do you have anyone you would like remembered on All Souls' Day and through the year at St. Paul's? Click here and add their names and dates of death. These will be read on All Souls' Day and their names will be entered in the parish book of remembrance to be used throughout the year near their year's mind (anniversary of their death).

As we resume many of our regular ministries, have you considered how you might be called to serve in our parish's life? There are a number of opportunities each calling for various and distinctive gifts. Lectors read at the Sunday morning Eucharist and enable God's people to hear his Word. Along with the clergy, altar servers enable God's people in prayer and worship. Our audio-visual team is crucial in making our worship accessible within and without our walls. The Altar Guild does much of the "behind-the-scenes" work that makes possible the order and beauty we experience Sunday by Sunday. Our ushers are the first face and welcome that our visitors experience on a Sunday morning, often setting the tone for people's experience of St. Paul's. Those who will be hosting our revived Food Pantry serve in the Church's name those in our area who are in need.
In God's grace we have been given so many opportunities to serve his people and the world. How is he calling you to serve? Below you will find contact details for each the of the ministries mentioned above. Get in touch to learn more, and if you have any questions get in touch with Fr. Luis.

Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A Song
by Jack Hernandez
Desire shakes around
and through us
like a rising
and falling wind,
we think chasing it
brings exciting lyrics,
while the tree standing
still in the afternoon sun
sings love’s constant song.
