CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES -
Week of November 15, 2021
55-HOUR CLOSURE
WB SR 210 OFF-RAMP AT BASE LINE
The WB SR 210 off-ramp at Base Line is scheduled to close for 55 hours from 10:00 p.m., Friday, December 3 to 5:00 a.m., Monday, December 6. This continuous closure is necessary for crews to shift the ramp to the right to accommodate the additional lane being built on the SR 210. Crews will also switch pedestrian access from the north side of the Base Line bridge to the south side of the bridge during this closure.

Recommended detour:

  • From WB SR 210, exit 5th Street/Greenspot Road and turn right at the end of the ramp. Turn left on Boulder Avenue and continue to access Base Line.
TEMPORARY LANE CONFIGURATIONS ON SR 210
LIMIT TRAFFIC MOVEMENTS TO AND FROM I-10
Motorists traveling through the SR 210 project area will notice new, temporary lane configurations that affect traffic movements on SR 210, to and from I-10. Concrete barriers have been installed at key locations to safely separate travel lanes from adjacent work areas. While providing necessary protection for construction crews and the traveling public, these barriers will impact access and limit traffic movements in some places. This temporary configuration will be in place through early 2022 while crews complete the current stage of construction.

  • EB I-10 Connector to WB SR 210 - Motorists traveling from EB I-10 onto WB SR 210 cannot access the WB SR 210 off-ramp at San Bernardino Avenue.

  • EB SR 210 On-Ramp at San Bernardino Avenue* - Motorists that enter EB SR 210 at San Bernardino Avenue cannot access the EB I-10 connector.

*Motorists entering EB SR 210 using the on-ramp at San Bernardino Avenue cannot access the EB I-10 connector. For the safety of other drivers and construction crews, do not cut across work zone areas to access EB I-10 from EB SR 210.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The SR 210 Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange Project is designed to provide increased traffic flow throughout this corridor. To eliminate the existing bottleneck and provide lane continuity, the SR 210 will be widened from Sterling Avenue to San Bernardino Avenue in the cities of San Bernardino, Highland, and Redlands, as well as an unincorporated portion of San Bernardino County. Base Line Interchange will also be widened from Buckeye Street to Seine Avenue in the City of Highland, which will include widening three of the four interchange ramps. As the SR 210 Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange projects aligned geographically and shared similar delivery schedules, they were combined for the design, right-of-way, and construction phases to save cost and expedite the schedule. In addition, pavement rehabilitation work was added through a cooperative agreement with Caltrans that includes new concrete pavement between 5th Street and Lugonia Avenue. Adding the pavement rehabilitation work during the Lane Addition and Base Line Interchange projects means one less project that the community will have to navigate around in the future.

Please remember construction is dynamic and the schedule is subject to change.
Walking on the freeway is unsafe. In case of an emergency, please dial 9-1-1. For non-emergency Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) services, call the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at (909) 428-5400 or use the nearest Call Box for assistance. Drivers or passengers of a disabled vehicle stopped on a freeway may walk to the nearest exit, in either direction, on the same side of the freeway upon which the vehicle is disabled, or to the nearest Call Box for assistance. For the safety of the public and our crews, unapproved access to construction sites and property related to project construction is prohibited.
