"Pushing Back the Chaos"
Sunday Sermon

Join us on Sunday as Pastor Tim explores how the separating of the waters described in Genesis 1:6-8 reflects how God pushes back the primordial chaos so that life can flourish. We will go deeper to see that the full flourishing of life is found in the cross and empty tomb of Jesus.

Genesis 1:6-8 | Worship: 9 & 10:30am
A Red Rose On The Altar

A Message from Lutheran Disaster Response

Hurricane Dorian has hit with devastating force, leading to major damage and a growing number of reported deaths in the Bahamas, and threatening the Carolinas with dangerous winds and storm surge.

In the Bahamas, where the impact of the hurricane has been devastating, Lutheran Disaster Response and the Florida-Bahamas Synod are collaborating to assess the immediate need for relief and recovery. Lutheran Disaster Response is also in communication with the South Carolina Synod, the North Carolina Synod, Lutheran Services Carolinas and other partners who are preparing to respond.

With your support, Lutheran Disaster Response can provide survivors of this hurricane and others like it with immediate relief and can accompany them on the long road to recovery.

If you would like to make a donation, please give directly to Lutheran Disaster Response by clicking here . Saint Matthew is not accepting donations on behalf of Lutheran Disaster Response at this time.
Dear Ministry Partners,

A BIG THANK YOU to all of you who helped to make this ministry such a success again. All of you (workers, donors, and buyers) add so much to this ministry, and it gives me so much joy to know that it is this commitment to Christ which compels us to give and share with those who are less fortunate than we are. Some of you baked, worked and bought every week, and I am most grateful for different parts of contributions each one of you made.

As St. Teresa of Avila said, "The Lord does not look so much at the magnitude of anything we do as at the love with which we do it." Many of us put so much love into what we did for the Market, and I thank God for all of you.

On our last Sunday, we made $1,033.00 (includes generous $524.00 donations) making the total funds of $4,937,50 in 7 Sundays. This fund will be sent to help those who are still struggling to get back to their normal life in Paradise.

We will start our Fall & Winter "First Sunday Market" on November 3.

Looking forward to gathering again at our "Happy Place" in November.

  With Joy in Christ,
  Toshiko
Special Fall Appeal for Seminary Support

As you now know, we have kicked off the "Seminary Fund," as approved by our Congregation Council, with the goal of raising $35,000 to support Mike Basil in his journey through seminary and the candidacy process to become an ELCA pastor.

Raising up the next generation of leaders for the church of Jesus' is a responsibility that we all share in the body of Christ. We already have the capacity to provide some support for seminarians through our Foundation, but this fund will allow us to go much further. Our goal is full tuition support and candidacy costs for Mike's program.

If we exceed our goal, we will be able to use the funds to support other seminarians on their journey toward ordination. What a joyful opportunity to support our future leaders.

To participate in this special appeal, you can donate through the app under give or through the website under give, or by clicking here . Be sure to select "Seminary Fund" from the dropdown list. Let us do what the Saint Matthew family does so well, and respond with joyful generosity.

Our initial appeal runs through the end of October. We will keep you posted on our progress.
