|
|
For school year 2020-2021, the Winter MAP test administration window is utilized for Magnet and Gifted eligibility screening. Therefore, due to the nature of the 2020-2021 Winter MAP assessments, students in 9th and 10th grades will be administered the MAP test face to face for the Reading and Mathematics MAP tests.

10th Grade (Feb 5 & 8) testing cohorts, testing schedule, and bus routes
testing schedule and cohorts
bus routes
Parents who choose for their student to test on an alternative day within the testing window (Feb. 3 - 26, 2021) must contact Mr. Alexander to schedule a testing date and time. In such situations, parents will need to provide transportation for their students.
Below are DeKalb’s Winter MAP 2020 face to face test procedures:
- Students must test at their home school.
- Students must wear a face covering or mask for the entire test administration.
- Limit test participants to 15 students per test session/per examiner.
- It is encouraged that students bring the school technology device.
- Bus transportation to and from the test site will be provided for students who receive bus transportation during the school year.
- Bus transportation WILL NOT be provided on MAKE-UP DAYS.
**If students are showing signs of fever, cough, runny nose, chills, or any other cold-like symptoms, they should not participate in this administration. **
If based on your child’s IEP, 504-IAP, or EL-TPC plan, there are allowable accommodations that your child may receive on the Winter MAP assessment, and they will be provided as outlined in their plans.
For more information about MAP Growth, click HERE. If you have any additional questions, please contact Mr. Alexander, Assistant Principal for testing, at 678-874-6442.

Fall End-of-Course Testing Update
|
|
If your student did not take the Fall 2020 EOC for American Literature, Economics, US History or Coordinate Algebra, s/he currently has an "I" - incomplete for their semester grade in that course.
Explanation: Incomplete grades in regards to missed EOC exams -
DeKalb County School Districts procedures for calculating EOC and final grades for students who have an “I” (incomplete) for an EOC grade -
Students who do not take an EOC exam for whatever reason receive an “I” (incomplete) for the EOC grade. Students are allowed to make-up the EOC for 3 months following the initial testing period during the “mid-month” testing period. Once a student takes the test, the EOC grade replaces the “I." If a student does not take the test during those three months, the “I” is replaced with a zero.
As long as the EOC grade is an “I,” the student’s semester grade is also an “I.” If the student makes-up the test during a mid-month test within three months of the initial test, then the EOC grade is entered, and the final grade is calculated. If the student does not make-up the test after three months, a zero is entered for the EOC grade and the final grade is calculated.
How is DCSD handling this procedure this year with Covid19 and the Georgia Board of Education decision to count EOCs as 0.01% of the final grade?
The Georgia Board of Education voted in December 2020 to change the weight for EOC tests from 20% of the overall grade to 0.01% of the overall grade (essentially the EOC grade does not affect the final average).
DCSD is following the same procedure. Students who do not take an EOC will receive an “I” for the EOC grade and an “I” for the final grade. If the student does not take the test after three mid-month make-up opportunities, the EOC grade will be entered as zero, and the final grade calculated. This will not have a negative impact on the student’s grade; however, there will be a delay in the semester grade being finalized.
Students' "I" grades will be recalculated and posted to the transcript sometime after the March mid-month EOC administration.

When Life Hands You Lemons . . .
WE'RE MAKING LEMONADE!
|
|
To no one's surprise, there will not be a DHHS Auction this year.
However, your PTO is dedicated to making lemonade out of the lemons we've all been handed. The GREAT News is that everyone can donate DIRECTLY to our school's Enrichment Fund and 100% of the money donated will go to fulfill teacher classroom needs and projects.
This past semester alone, the PTO has distributed over $6,000 to DHHS teachers for such classroom needs as:
- Electronic equipment for remote instruction (webcams, microphones, ring lights, media carts, etc.)
- School-wide digital tools for design and organization of class content
- Lab kits for science classes
- Subscriptions to online learning platforms and enrichment games for the Math, Science, World Languages, Social Studies, and Food Sciences Departments.
- Support for the Board Game Club's purchase of games
- Support for the School Nurse to send immunization reminder postcards to students
- Support in securing PPE and hand sanitizer for the entire school.
Your generous donations will allow the PTO to continue meeting our amazing teachers' needs and creative ideas to keep online instruction fresh and engaging for our students. We are also planning to continue supporting our school administration's preparations for a return to a safe face-to-face instructional environment, whenever that happens.
This school year, more than ever, THANK YOU for your support of our faculty and staff!
|
|
A HUGE THANK YOU to those who have already generously donated to the Enrichment Fund!
A receipt letter for all donations received through January 28 has been emailed to the address provided to us by PayPal. If you have not received it, please check your email spam folder and then contact the PTO Treasurer if you still can't find it.
