Covid-19 Policy for Fall Performances
Outlined below are the covid-19 policies that performers and attendees must follow for all SDYS Fall performances:

A picture of your Covid-19 vaccination card will need to be submitted before any attended performance to the email: covid19vaccination@sdys.org

Performers & attendees over the age of 6 and those who need a reasonable accommodation for medical conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours before entering a venue. At-home test results will not be accepted. Find No-Cost Testing here.
*Failure to comply with these guidelines by student or attendee will result in exclusion from the concert. Please follow the link below for more detailed information and requirements.

SDYS invites you to attend our Ovation Concerto Competition Finals on Friday, October 15th at 6pm at the University Christian Church in Hillcrest. The recital is free to the public. The top three students will each receive an award to use toward their music education and the first place student will perform their concerto with the Ovation Symphony or Chamber Orchestra at an upcoming concert.
Congratulations to all Showcase Concerto Competition musicians on your outstanding preliminary round performances on Sunday, October 10.
Please look forward to the Showcase Final Round, which will be on Friday, October 22.

Led by SDYS musicians, and mentored by SDYS program managers, Kaitlyn Korogy and Dr. Lauren Rausch, the SDYS Youth Leadership Council brings together young leaders from across SDYS programs to connect and contribute to the future of SDYS.
Youth leaders meet together twice a month on Zoom or in Balboa Park to collaborate and utilize a secure, private group chat to share ideas in between meetings.
Eligibility:
- Current SDYS musician in good standing
- Ages 14 and over
- Participants must have parent/guardian permission to join

Musical Artstops
San Diego Museum of Art
Sunday, November 7, 2021
Would you like an opportunity to perform at the San Diego Museum of Art, learn about the connections between art and music, and engage with museum-goers? In collaboration with the San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA), students in Sinfonia, Wind Symphony, or Ovation are eligible to apply for Musical Artstops. Students will have the opportunity to present a 10-minute performance centering around works of art at SDMA.
Students will be required to view the Museum of Art exhibit link found on the application form and select their top three pieces of art. Your top three selections will then need to be submitted to Conservatory Program Assistant by October 21, 2021. *Wind musicians will only select from outdoor exhibits.

Concert Attire
Concert attire is a visual representation of the artistic excellence we present on stage. Students will not be allowed to participate in the group photo or perform at the concert without wearing either sets of the appropriate concert attire.

ChIMES Guest Musicians Wanted!
We are looking for Conservatory musicians to come demonstrate their instrument for young children ages 0-5 and their caregivers as a ChIMES Guest Musician. ChIMES classes are currently taking place OUTDOORS in Balboa Park or Liberty Station on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings. Come play a short piece of your choice, as well as a classic kid favorite like Twinkle Twinkle or If You're Happy and You Know It.

Southern California Viola Society Youth Competition
|
SCVS presents Youth Competition in conjunction with the American Viola Society Festival and Primrose International Viola Competition
|
|
Applicants are required to to submit the online application along with a $35 dollar non-refundable application fee.
PRIZES
1st place: $500
2nd place: $300
3rd place: $150
All winners will be presented at a winner’s recital at the prestigious AVS Festival at the renowned Colburn School in Los Angeles. Winners and Honorable mentions will be presented at the final Winner’s recital at the Colburn School.

Youth Fit2Lead
Youth Fit2Lead's mission is to empower female teens to be capable and confident leaders through experiential leadership workshops!
On Saturday, October 16th, we are hosting a 1-day workshop called "Glowin' Within," where girls ages 13-18 get to develop self-confidence, find self-love and acceptance, and experience what it's like to be a part of a sisterhood! Our workshop includes yoga, dancing, leadership games, and special performances, all designed to inspire our youth!
Tuition is $300. We have scholarships available for those in need. If you know any teen girls who would be interested in attending, please let us know and we will schedule a Meet & Greet Zoom call!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

|
The American Cancer Society's Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is Scheduled for Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 7:00 am. This Countywide event will start and finish at Park Blv. and Presidents Way Lawn Area.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a walk dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer early detection and to raise funds to continue the free programs offered by the American Cancer Society. All individuals are invited to attend this exciting event!
The money raised from this event will be directed towards breast cancer research, patient services, and education. We invite you to attend this community celebration and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
