Here's what is going on at your library!

The Library is a Resource for the Community
From the Library Director

It has been quite a summer, what with Summer Reading and lots of programs for children and teens, and now getting ready for the fall programs -- read about the first two author talks and new art instruction classes for adults and children, below, along with a slew of other offerings. We've also been adding to our growing Library of Things (things you can borrow that aren't books, movies, or music). Join us at the Kingston Public Library Foundation's first annual Librewery on September 8th to see some of what we're rolling out. And of course, to have fun while supporting the Library, too. As a bonus, the Agricultural Commission is putting on an Agricultural Fair on the Town Green at the other end of Green Street, that same afternoon. Really, there's too much going on to fit it all in this newsletter. Please visit our website for more.

You don't have to wait until September for some great community fun. Join us tomorrow, Saturday August 17th, at the Fourth Annual Kingston Waterfront Festival. We're invited our friend Big Ryan to give two shows, at 11:30 and 1:30.

We've been wrapped up in another major summer project, too -- we're moving the Library's Local History collections across the street to the Adams Center at 33 Summer Street. These collections include thousands of photographs, deeds, letters, maps, artwork, broadsides, artifacts and other historic materials that chronicle Kingston's rich history. We hope to be able to be welcome you to the new location in the next few weeks, with a special opening event in late September. Watch for details about when and how you can visit the Local History collections soon.

We're grateful for the dozens and dozens of volunteers who almost overwhelm us with their generous gifts of time and talent. We would not be able to do nearly so much without their help.
