Stewardship 2021
You will receive a mailing with a letter from the Rev. Rob Fisher as well as one from Toby Stock encouraging you to make a pledge in 2021. Soon a pledge card will be in the mail to you, too, but of course you can always pledge online by clicking the button bellow.
While it is always the case that your commitment to support St. John's in the year ahead is a meaningful expression of your faith and membership in this community, this year St. John's needs you more than ever. Our finances are under strain from the pandemic, even as we know many of our parishioners have experienced their own hardships. If you are in the fortunate position of being able to make an early and even increased pledge to our church for 2021, we would be grateful. Any pledge, large or small, is important and provides necessary information as our vestry makes decisions for next year.

He will speak on his book, The Riches of This Land: The Untold, True Story of America's Middle Class. Following the discussion, there will be opportunity for Q&A.

Latrobe Young Adult Outdoor Holy Eucharist
Wednesday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m.
The Latrobe Young Adult Fellowship, an active group at St. John's Church in their 20s and 30s, invite you to an outdoor Holy Eucharist on Wednesday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Parish, 2430 K Street NW, Washington. Meet at the grass/park space at St. Paul's. There's a parking lot (GPS to parking lot is 10 Snows Court, NW, Washington, DC 20037), and the church is near the Foggy Bottom Metro, as well as several bus lines. Many thanks to St. Paul's for providing the use of the space for our Eucharist service. Please wear masks/face coverings, bring water bottles, practice physical distancing, and other health measures.

Baptism at St. John's

If you are interested in having a child baptized, or in baptism for yourself, please contact Kaye Edwards. 
Note that the parents or grandparents of children being baptized must be active, pledging members of St. John’s. Adults interested in baptism for themselves must attend the Rector’s Adult Inquirers’ Class and be active, pledging participants in the life of the parish. 

To give families options during this extraordinary time, and until St. John's is open for full Sunday services, the Rector will discuss options to a church service with families, including baptisms at home (and preferably outdoors) or a private baptism at the church. All baptisms must comply with health and safety guidelines.

Congratulations to the Rev. Jane Milliken Hague
Congratulations to the Rev. Jane Milliken Hague, who will begin her ministry at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Damascus, Maryland, as Interim Rector on October 1. Jane, St. John's Interim Associate Rector until recently, has been trained in transitional ministry. She will be assisting in evaluating St. Anne's mission and ministry and helping prepare the parish for the arrival of a new rector. We miss Jane here at St. John’s, but we wish her every blessing in her new position.

St. John’s Mask Project Number Two Now Helps Needy Hispanic Immigrants
The Afghan refugee family commissioned by St. John's Refugee Committee to sew surgery masks for George Washington Hospital delivered 521 masks to the hospital when the supply of N-95 masks was inadequate. Now that the hospital is supplied with N-95 masks, St. John's has joined with Christ Church, Alexandria to supply masks to families who are in dire need. The community in Arlandria - most especially, the Latinx community - has been severely affected by the pandemic. For more information, contact Gay and Bob Pasley, the project organizers for the Refugee Committee, here.
