Data from Recent Survey Shared as CRA Continues to Advocate for Relief for Restaurants
75% of Local Restaurants Say Sales are Still Weaker Than Pre-Pandemic Levels

Thank you to everyone who responded to our recent restaurant impact survey. Sharing these results with state representatives and local media helps CRA paint an accurate picture of the challenges our Connecticut restaurants continue to face.

With data backed evidence on the state of our industry, we continue to advocate:
  • Federally for restaurant relief replenishment from congress;
  • State-wide by continuing to push local officials to support issues in the industry; and
  • Locally by encouraging media and community members to support small businesses to help their communities thrive.
The main findings from this survey make clear that restaurants still have a long way to go as they continue to struggle with lower-than-normal sales, staffing problems, and higher costs of goods.

Some key findings from the survey include:
  • The Delta variant dampened indoor dining at 88% of restaurants in the state
  • 78% of restaurants are understaffed
  • 75% of local restaurants’ August 2021 sales were weaker than 2019
More findings from this survey can be viewed in the infographic below.
Congressman Crist, Rogers and Florida Hoteliers Unite to Save Hotel Jobs

AHLA President & CEO Chip Rogers joined U.S. Representative Charlie Crist (D-Fla.) and Florida hoteliers at a virtual press conference to urge Congress to pass the Save Hotel Jobs Act. The legislation, which was introduced by Rep. Crist and Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), would extend a lifeline to hotel workers and provide the assistance needed to survive until travel returns to pre-pandemic levels.
