Manos del Uruguay Alegria
|
|
Manos del Uruguay means "Hand of Uruguay" and was started in 1968 as a way to empower women in Uruguay and allow them to stay in their villages and towns and support their families. Manos makes so many fabulous yarns and we stock them all, so we're going to try and feature a different one every month. We're starting with
Alegria, their very popular sock yarn that's perfect so many different kinds of projects. Alegria means "Joy", and we think you'll feel that when you work with this beautiful yarn.
|
We love the
Momentito Shawl, one of the transitional weather pieces we're showcasing in Alegria today.
This piece is knit with two skeins of Alegria and is a not-too-big, not-too-small crescent shawl perfect for all kinds of weather!

Crocheted Alegria Designs!
|
|
|
Designed by
Jen Lucas
,
Conarroe
is a beautiful crocheted piece that takes just two skeins of Alegria! It's a great piece for transitional weather and the yarn is robust and machine washable. A perfect combination.
Choose any color you want from the huge variety of offerings. While you can use a multi-color version, choosing a semi-solid will allow the pattern to show better.
The piece can be finished as a scarf, or sewn together as a tubular or asymmetrical cowl!
|
|
Since 1968, Manos del Uruguay has transformed the lives of women all over Uruguay. Manos is a Certified Fair-Trade yarn produced by a women's cooperative in Uruguay.
We're proud to stock every yarn Manos makes in every color. We think you'll love it as much as we do.

Merinella
Merinella is a wonderfully springy, fingering weight yarn from our friends at GGH. The yarn has beautiful tonal, ombre striping. As if that wasn't enough, it's also machine washable!
|
This rectangular wrap comes in two sizes, 2 balls for the 13" x 72", and 4 for the 25" x 72" wrap.
|
|
This simple, adorable beanie is knit on US 3s with just one skein of Merinella.

Join us
Saturday August 15 from 9AM to Noon
to experience one of Berroco’s newest yarn,
Mochi
.
This unique yarn is a blend of baby alpaca, wool, and nylon in a chainette construction. That means you get lots of yardage on one ball making it a great value. It has subtle speckled colors in a heavy worsted yarn that is soft and light, yet warm for both accessories and garments.
We’re using Berroco's
Kingsey Hat & Cowl pattern for the class, which will teach you how to work in the round with a slip stitch pattern. Even though the stitch pattern looks complex, it is easy to learn, and produces a beautiful result for both the hat and cowl. This pattern is one of 6 that are included in the new pattern book from Berroco!
The yarn comes with the class!

|
This is an ON-LINE class held using Zoom technology
. You'll be able to join from anywhere using whatever technology you have, a PC, a Mac, an Apple iPhone or iPad, or an android device. Log in information will be shared with class attendees prior to the class.
