Mayor William R. Wild Appointed to Co-Chair USCM Small Business and Entrepreneurship Task Force


Westland, MI (September 11, 2019) - Westland Mayor William R. Wild has been appointed to serve alongside Mayor Elizabeth B Kautz from Burnsville, MN as Co-Chars to the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) Small Business and Entrepreneurship Task Force.  Both Mayors were selected by USCM President, Mayor Bryan K. Barnett of Rochester Hills, MI.  

"Mayor Wild has long been a leader and a national voice on entrepreneurship and I was excited to appoint him to represent Westland on the national stage as we work on this important aspect of job creation and our economy," commented Mayor Barnett.  "Wild  is in a unique position to lead, coming from a small business background, and I am confident that he will help the USCM develop a proactive, strategic agenda through this task force."

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Task Force is comprised of Mayors from across the country who will share their experiences with how they've successfully grown and supported small businesses and how they foster entrepreneurship in their cities.  They will also hear from representatives from small business nationwide, in order to incubate new ideas for small business growth.

The United States Conference of Mayors is the official non-partisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are over 1,400 such cities in the country today. Mayor Wild has been an actively engaged with the USCM since he took Mayoral Office in 2007.

The City is served by two public school districts; Wayne-Westland Community Schools serving 12,000 youth was recently named one of the Best School in Michigan by WXYZ-TV and is the proud recipient of 14 Golden Apple and two Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Awards.  Livonia Public Schools, educating nearly 15,000 students, is proud of their MEAP/MME scores that exceed state averages and the District has also earned Golden Apple and Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Awards.
