Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado Senate District 19
Rachel Zenzinger
Colorado Senate
 January 8, 2018
Back in session starting Wednesday, Jan. 10

I am prepped and ready to go for the Second Regular Session of the 71st General Assembly. The legislature will convene on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. with the usual pomp and circumstance, including opening day speeches that will set the tone for the session.

Many have speculated that because it's an election year, you shouldn't expect much  to happen this session. I disagree! Perhaps I am a greater optimist than most, but I know my colleagues and I respect their desire to make progress on key issues likes PERA, transportation funding, and housing.

If you have the time, please join us for light refreshments prior to the opening day festivities, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., in our office, room 339. Usually, there are seats available in the gallery if you'd like to stick around for the speeches. We hope to see you there!

Making myself available to you during the session

Similar to last year, we are hosting a series of get-togethers during the session geared toward keeping you updated on the latest happenings at the Capitol.

Coffee With Consitituents: On the second Friday of each month, we will meet in the Clubhouse at the Indian Tree Golf Course,  7555 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, from 7 - 8 a.m, for coffee. Our first meeting will be this coming Friday, January 12, where I will be reviewing my legislative agenda for this session.

What's Brewing at the Capitol: On the third Wednesday of each month, we will meet at a different brewery in the district for informal conversations and a beer with your senator. The first event will take place on Wednesday, January 17 at the Kokopelli Beer Company, 8931 N Harlan St, Westminster, CO 80031, beginning at 7 p.m.

Arvada/Westminster Town Hall Meeting:
On the third Saturday of each month, I am hosting a town hall meeting along with House District 29 representative, Tracy Kraft-Tharp (D) and House District 17 representative, Lang Sias (R). Our first meeting will be on Saturday, January 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Standley Lake Library, 8485 Kipling St, Arvada, CO 80005

In addition to these standing events, we will host various get-togethers on an as needed basis about a specific topic. We will advertise the details in this newsletter, as well as on my Facebook Page, website, and Twitter. Please stay tuned!
