Easter Egg Hunts
Each class will have the opportunity to find Easter Eggs during their recess time next week. In order to have enough eggs and treats for inside the eggs for every child, we are asking for you to bring in toy treats that will fit inside eggs, individually wrapped candy ( NO peanuts or peanut butter ) or already filled eggs. Egg stuffing will happen after drop off next Tuesday, April 9, along with coffee and donuts! All parents are welcome to help! We are still looking for egg hiders for Krista's, Patty's, Arleen's and Heather's classes. To help hide eggs, volunteer below.
Canned Food Needed
Help us with our Math ! We will be counting, stacking, measuring, sorting and weighing cans! We are asking each child to bring 2 or 3 cans of food this week and next week. At the end of our math fun, the cans will be donated to North Raleigh Ministries. Ms Kara will visit on April 12 and talk about the grocery store/food pantry at their location as well as nutrition and healthy food choices.

CHAPEL IN APRIL

"Sing Praises to the Lord." Psalm 9:11

This month in chapel, our focus is Holy week and Easter. The children hear about Jesus' ride through Jerusalem and that "Jesus is Alive!". After Easter, we learn how Jesus wants us to pray and continue to learn about how much God's loves us! We are thankful for our chapel leaders: Pastor Tim, Pastor Marsha, Suzanne and Mr. John. Sam the puppet visits each week too!

You are welcome to come to chapel any time. It's held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:45 - 10:00 am.

4's and 5's Fun with Springmoor and Service to the community
Residents of Springmoor visited our preschool on March 21. They made kites together and had fun "flying" them in the gym at music and movement time. We have had a wonderful experience with our independent Springmoor friends this year!

In harmony with our mission statement, we continue to reach out to our community through service projects. We gave the socks we collected to Families Together and they were extremely appreciative. Thank you!

Each child made an Easter themed placemat that will go to a Meals on Wheels recipient.

We made the menu covers for the Memory Café organization here at GSLC. Heather's class made them for March, Arleen's for April and Melissa's class for May.

The mission of GSLP is to provide a Christ-centered early childhood preschool through faith-based education and service in a nurturing inclusive environment.
The Educational Philosophy of Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool
The focus of the preschool is to meet children’s needs and stimulate learning in these developmental areas:   *Physical    *Emotional/ Social    *Spiritual    *Cognitive        *Music/Art
To nurture these areas the Preschool’s objectives are to:
  • Integrate Christian faith formation throughout the curriculum.
  • Develop a cooperative/supportive relationship between the child, the family and the preschool.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Teach children about their relationship with God and all people in the world.
  • Provide tools for assessment of students’ progress.

Our teachers relate education to the child’s understanding about God and Christian life so that the spiritual and developmental aspects of the curriculum become a foundation for a lifelong faith.
