The possibilities for Lakehill students are relatively endless, and this is never more apparent than when it comes time to choose which college or university to attend.
Lakehill kicked-off its college visit season on September 6, by hosting a college fair on campus. Local representatives from 40 colleges and universities were on hand to visit with Upper School students during open period.
A second College Fair was held on September 11, with 38 colleges and universities from 25 states (from Hawaii to Vermont) plus the District of Columbia and Ireland in attendance. In total, admission officers from more than 140 colleges and universities will visit the Lakehill campus this fall.
Beginning in their freshman year, students will be able to ask questions and foster relationships with schools before they begin the college admissions process.
Although opportunities such as this are rare at most schools, they are an important part of Lakehill's unique preparation for the college admission process.

Building Bonds:
Upper School Retreat
|
Upper School students had the opportunity to bond with new classmates and spend time with friends on September 6, with their annual Upper School Retreat.
The group spent the day at the Southern Cross Ranch, where students enjoyed activities including paddle boating, rock climbing, basketball, ping pong, and friendly Powder Puff sand volleyball and football competitions between the Upper School Spirit Houses. Students and faculty were able to relax and enjoy spending time together outside of classroom.

The New York Times, nearly three-fifths of all clothing ends up in incinerators or landfills within a year of being produced. The average American throws away 70 pounds of clothing and other textiles each year.
Now you can wear something new and show your Lakehill spirit while supporting our environment. Visit the Spirit Shop, and check out all the new upcycled spirit gear.
These one-of-a-kind creations give new life to our favorite Warrior t-shirts from the past.

"The Lakehill experience--the students, the colleagues, and the environment of this place--has encouraged and supported, and, thereby, empowered me to expand my horizons as a teacher, an expansion I try to present to my students every day in class. I love it!"

Who's New?
Lakehill Welcomes Carolina Alvarez
|
Carolina Alvarez
joined the Lakehill faculty last spring semester, teaching Lower and Middle School Spanish.
Alvarez is originally from Argentina. Now in her eighteenth year of teaching, she previously taught Spanish at Whitby Private School in Greenwich, Connecticut. Alvarez earned her M.S. in Education from the Universidad Nacional de San Martin, in Argentina.
She and her husband Martin have two children, Felipe (10) and Brenda (7). She enjoys spending time with her family, participating in Flamenco and Spanish dance, and traveling. Competitive by nature, Alvarez is determined to beat her husband at table tennis this year.
Passionate about education, Alvarez follows her mom's advice to "do whatever makes me happy in life regardless of other people's opinions."
She enjoys the Lakehill community, and feels the staff make it a special place. "I am excited to be at Lakehill and want students to have fun learning Spanish."

The teams continue district play on September 12, as they travel to Sherman to take on Texoma Christian School.
