Becomes just the 12th community in the country to receive this recognition
At its national convening on Thursday in Washington, DC,
StriveTogetherannounced that
Northfield Promise has been named a “StriveTogether Proof Point Community.” Northfield becomes just the 12
th community in the country to receive StriveTogether’s highest recognition, joining the likes of Cincinnati, OH, Seattle, WA, and Dallas, TX. The recognition highlights improving youth outcomes in the community, as well as
documented systems changes that have improved results for young people.

By the Numbers-
Reading scores continue to rise
68% of Northfield’s 3
rd graders achieved proficiency in reading, according to the 2019 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA). This was
up 5%from 2018 – and
up11%over the past two years.
Shining the light on great work underway around the Northfield Promise benchmarks!
Northfield Community College Collaborative helping local students on their postsecondary journeys
Forty-five young adults earned 486 college credits last year through the Northfield Community College Collaborative (a Northfield Promise flagship initiative). Located on Division Street in downtown Northfield, the NCCC partners with Riverland Community Collegeto provide in-person courses, while also supporting students in taking online classes. The NCCC offers study space, tutoring, academic advising, wireless internet, free printing, and access to emergency funds to help overcome obstacles that may arise for students.
Completing its first full year, the NCCC is already seeing amazing results.

Greenvale Park Community School receives competitive 21st Century Community Learning Center grant
The
Greenvale Park Community Schoolreceived exciting news earlier this summer – the project was selected for up to six years of additional funding through the
Minnesota Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Center grant award.
Greenvale Park’s initial five-year 21
st Century grant ended this summer, making this year’s competition particularly critical.
Only one in three applicants statewide were selected for funding. The 21
st Century grant competition is only open every 2-3 years, further raising the stakes of this year’s application.
The Greenvale Park Community School offers before school, after school, and evening programming for youth and adults of all ages. The program served 938 youth and 650 adults last year. Learn more
