This season, many of our children have started at a new school, moved to a different grade, or are welcoming new classmates or teachers. All this change can be exhilarating! It can also be unnerving.
Books are allies in helping us adapt. We tag along with characters who learn to be flexible by navigating surprise twists or finding a bright spot in unenviable circumstances. Stories can inspire perseverance or a change in perspective.
After all, who would expect that a lucky gift would be...a goat? Or that it could be good to be the only one in the class trying to corral a baby dragon while all your classmates are raising cute, fluffy chicks? Books can show us that even something totally unexpected, like...waking up with antlers, perhaps?...can have its advantages!
