We have now hit our stride as we finish the third week of school with lots of activities and events starting like fall sports, our annual Back to School Picnic, PTSA Discount Card Fundraiser, and much more.  You student has received their agenda and it is a daily expectation that they not only have it with them at all times, but also use it to stay organized.  Please encourage your Bronco to use their agenda by monitoring this and their weekly behavior sheet at home.  The behavior sheet should be located in the plastic sleeve just inside the front cover of their agenda that was designed for just this purpose.  I have also attached a color coded calendar of events for the year that will be a great point of reference for families...feel free to print and hang on the fridge.

HUGE KUDOS to our students and staff for all of their hard work and dedication to getting better year after year...Greatness is a choice at Bailey as you will see below!

I want to take a few minutes to share some recent data regarding our academic performance this past year.  I'll start back in 2013 where we ended the year with 67.8% of our students on grade level.  This year we increased for the 6 th consecutive year to 87% performing at or above grade level.  In addition, Bailey has exceeded yearly student growth expectations for the 6 th straight year and demonstrated the highest growth for all schools in CMS with a +12.78 index.  As a point of reference, schools performing at a +2.0 index or better are considered to have exceeded growth expectations.  Over the past 6 years, Bailey students and staff have been in the top ten percent for growth across the state with a cumulative total of +46.7 growth index points during this time.  Our positive growth index scores in conjunction with the increased percentage of students on or above grade level has also allowed Bailey to maintain our "A" letter grade rating for the 4 th straight year in North Carolina.   Furthermore, we are most proud of our subgroup growth with 7 of our 8 subgroups scoring at a +4.0 growth index or higher this past year (1. African American, 2. White, 3. Hispanic, 4. Asian, 5. Students with Disabilities, 6. Economically disadvantaged, and 7. English Language Learners).  Additionally, two of these subgroups (African American  at +6.27 and Economically Disadvantaged at +7.76) increased from a letter grade from a C to a B measured by their growth and grade level proficiency.  Finally, I want to recognize our students with disabilities and the teachers who serve them as this group grew +7.38 growth index points and 11 letter grade points, which is quite an accomplishment.   As we move into this year, we still have room to grow and get better, yet I really felt it necessary to pause and celebrate our kids and teachers for continuing the tradition of great teaching and learning at Bailey.

Create a Great Day,

BMS PTSA Fall Fundraiser
Bailey Discount Cards

It's time for the Bailey Fall Fundraiser! Here's how it works. Each student will receive five discount cards to sell to family, friends, and neighbors. The cost of each card is $10, but the savings are worth much more! Students can win prizes and unique experiences by participating in this fundraising effort. For more information, please refer to the handout that will accompany the cards sent home.

If your student sells their cards and needs more, they can check out five additional cards per visit in the media center before school.

If you do not want to participate, or your student does not sell all of their cards, please return them to the school so that they can be re-distributed to other students.

Our three money collection dates are as follows:
Friday, September 20 . Friday, September 27 . Friday, October 4

Please send the money for any cards sold to school with your student in an envelope with their name and homeroom/red block teacher.
