Fall is an especially magical time of the year to experience the many changes happening from day to day... all around us. One morning we awaken to brilliant sun rising over the clear blue waters and the next morning our world is sparkling with frost and hints of the winter to come. We “fell back” on Sunday, changed batteries in smoke & co2 detectors... some of our internal clocks
take a while to adjust to earlier sunsets and the canine population will be expecting dinner earlier than the clock indicates.

Through their many years of musical collaboration, they speak soulfully with one voice.

As the seasons change, The LSPA shares pertinent information regarding “green” snow removal to protect our lakes and the installation of De-icers.
|
|
Road salt is everywhere during winter months. It keeps us safe on roads and sidewalks, but it can also pose a threat to fish and wildlife as well as human health. You can help.
|
Now is the time to check to make sure your dock de-icer is up to code and working properly.
This month if you are into fall projects and working on docks and considering de-icers, please check out our website for information on de-icers, guidelines plus lake safety and environmental concerns.
Click Here to go to our web page all about dock de-icers!

Watershed Wise!
It's never too early to think about snow. The fall is a great time to make your snow and ice management plans. Look for contractors that are SnowPro certified. The NH Green SnowPro program emphasizes specific methods which limit the use of chemicals that are used to manage snow and ice. Certified SnowPro professionals complete detailed coursework and pass an examination that stresses the importance of:
• How snow melt chemicals work
• The negative effects on over-use of chemicals
• Proper application rates of chemicals
• How to set, adjust, and test their equipment for proper application rates.
The best way to protect our water quality is to properly manage and reduce the use of salt, ice melt products, sand and other accumulating sediments. Make your snow and ice management plan this fall. Have your service provider walk your property with you. Map out the areas where snow should be piled. Snow banks should ideally be placed in areas which slope away from the waterfront, where spring runoff to the lake is minimal, and where spring cleanup is straight forward. Plan ahead! Snow will be here before we know it!
DO YOUR PART TO PROTECT OUR STREAMS, LAKES AND PONDS!

The big green doors may not have been open for concerts this past summer, due to COVID concerns, but the Sunapee Heritage Alliance Board of Directors, proud owners of The Livery, and a crew of stalwart volunteers, have not been idle. Thanks to a grant from Northern Borders Regional Commission, Milestone Engineering began restoration from the ground up.
Steel beams and a new foundation replaced the rubble the Livery was built on in 1890. Soon, both the Stable and River levels will be ready for activity.
The SHA/Livery Board of Directors is pleased to announce that receipt of a grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, made possible by the Charles A. Watson Jr. Endowment Fund for Historic Preservation, that will enable architectural services to assist in planning for The Livery’s next century of “Music, Arts and Community” in Sunapee Harbor and the greater Lake Sunapee region. Visit www.nhcf.org.
