SUMMER SOJOURN
Summer is here. It arrived, it seems while we were “doom-scrolling” for the latest pandemic news. Life goes on, obviously at a different and subdued pace along the shores of Lake Sunapee, but it’s Summertime, nevertheless.  We're enjoying the warm weather. There are kayaks and sails on the lake and MV Kearsarge & Sunapee Cruise boats are plying the waters once again.  Swimmers beckon "c’mon in, the water’s fine”.

Hikers are exploring nature’s bounty and spectacular views on the trails in many of ASLPT’s conservation areas and at The Fells’ John Milton Hay Estate.

Or, take your canoe to Messer pond in New London, habitat to Mallards and a giant Snapping Turtle.
LETS GET ARTSY
One of the best things about summertime is live concerts, music, theater, festivals, & arts & crafts fairs! However, “things they are a- changing" this summer as indoor concerts are cancelled, the Barn Playhouse is dark, NH League of Craftsmen’s Fair has gone virtual... but fear not, Center for The Arts Sunapee Region is staging their annual “ARTS ON THE GREEN” in Sunapee Harbor and their 10 day fine arts exhibit at The Livery!

CUE THE MUSIC
Community bandstands around the area are presenting live music again.
Bring a picnic and enjoy.
Tonight at the Ben Mere Bandstand in Sunapee, Dr. Harp’s Blues Revue Band will have you dancing on the green. Please take care to practice proper socially distancing. ps: wearing a mask does not interfere with the sounds of music and shows you care.  Next Week:  “The Little Big Band” with Jazz classics.
If you prefer music in your living room… enjoy another treat from the “Barnies”… with 2019 Acting Intern, Cara DiPietro.
Or this amazing video of seven siblings playing one piano!
Shakira's hips don't lie... and neither do this dog's!
FAMILY FUN
Kids may not be able to attend their ‘sleep away’ summer camp this year, but locally YMCA Camp Coniston is offering area friends and families a special opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of Coniston for a day.   Coniston invitation thru Project Sunapee.
While the Library Arts Center facility in Newport is closed, they are offering daily great, simple, fun, virtual art projects for kids!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS
Anna Duke's 80th Birthday
This past Friday, friends and family, Sunapee Police and Fire Trucks surprised Anna Duke on her 80th Birthday with balloons, rubber duckies, birthday cake, sirens & cheers from all parading past her Harding Hill Road home. An awesome celebration befitting an octogenarian queen and “Miss July” in the Wild Women’s 2020 Calendar.
And… there’s a new road in Sunapee.
The "J A BERGERON DR” was dedicated to
Mr. Sunapee… Tony Bergeron!
Next time you are traveling on Route 11 and pass the road accessing the Sunapee Highway Department, be sure and notice the road sign. "J.A. BERGERON DR." is now the name of that roadway and it is Sunapee's way of thanking retired Road Agent, Tony Bergeron, for his years of service to our town. Tony served as Road Agent for 29 years and before that, as Sunapee's Fire Chief. At the unveiling of the sign today, Selectman Josh Trow thanked Tony for his years of service and Tony, in turn, thanked the town for the "job of a lifetime".

Project Sunapee is proud to call Tony a friend and thank him for being such a dedicated volunteer. He and Muriel have been involved in every PS “happening” since we incorporated as a community nonprofit ten years ago.
INSPIRATION
300 drones flew above Seoul to thank frontline workers and encourage coronavirus preventative measures.
UNTIL NEXT WEEK
We all know a great many businesses have been hard hit by the virus, tariffs and other forces beyond their control and are seriously hurting. Please do all you can to support our local business community and help them stay strong and prosperous so they’ll be here for all of us next year.
The Covid-19 pandemic is still very much with us. Be safe. Be kind and respectful. Keep practicing proper social distancing.
Wear a mask!

It’s very little to ask to protect the health and
safety of those we all hold dear.

"May good stuff come your way."
Wednesday’s email “ SUNAPEE HAPPENINGS
