2020 Stewardship Campaign at RRCC

   Dear Round Rock Christian Church

Our work with our neighborhood schools--Union Hill Elementary School and Hopewell Middle School--is just one of the many ways we are answering God's call and fulfilling our mission of "embracing our neighbors with Christ-like love."

Supporting our neighborhood students, families, and educators is significant, and it is a privilege to be involved in ways that make a positive impact: through one-on-one reading with 2nd graders, providing school supplies and incentive gift cards, "adopting" students to bless with gifts during the holidays, distributing class schedules to Hopewell students as a part of their back to school event in August, showing appreciation for the teachers through "grab and go" breakfasts, and welcoming students and families to our campus for one of several yearly neighborhood fun events.

As you know, this is not the only way in which we are doing creative ministry and mission. Our Handcrafters Ministry provides comfort and support to people in a variety of difficult situations, we feed our local  firefighters each month, many from RRCC volunteer at the Round Rock Area Serving Center, and we offer Stephen Ministry services. We are transforming lives and being transformed by the love of God at the same time.

We want to thank you for being a partner in the ministry and mission of Round Rock Christian Church. Your ongoing financial contributions are making a difference in the lives of many people. You know what matters in life, and through your giving, you are sharing that with others and reaching them with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

The practice of generosity is a faith discipline. Growing in generosity is the mark of a developing faith and deeper walk with Christ. We believe that here at RRCC, our members are committed to being genuine disciples of Christ. We all want to be involved with something that really matters in our neighborhood and beyond.

The next piece, below, will give
you the details and timetable of
this year's stewardship campaign.
Again, thank you for your part in the life changing work of this congregation.

     Warmly,
     Perry Mouser  (Admin Chair)

"Personal Strategies" and "Stewardship Covenant" Cards
Will Be Available This Sunday and Next--September 15 & 22

During worship this Sunday and next, as well as the days in between, you will be invited to prayerfully consider your stewardship commitment for the coming year. In 2020, how will I WORSHIP , SERVE , and GROW  at RRCC, and what will my financial commitment be? In order to help you in this discernment process, you will receive two forms to fill out:

1. A tri-fold "Personal Strategies" form in which you can indicate areas of ministry you'd like to/are planning to be involved with during the coming year; and

2. A small green "Stewardship Covenant" form in which you can indicate your estimate of giving for 2020.

A Word from our Treasurer, Dan Knight

In the recent past, we've seen several lean budget years at RRCC, even deficit years. Reduced expenses this year and last year, while income remained level, have allowed reserves to be replenished to a point the Guiding Board has decided is acceptable to ride out those unexpected expenses that are inevitable (air conditioners, etc.).

Operating on reduced expenses has meant a number of needy areas were simply put off, sort of like maintenance on your car. You might put off buying tires, but sooner or later that will lead to worse problems. This year we managed to replace the roof and associated areas. The roof project was 85% paid by insurance and about 12% member sweat, so our monetary part was not burdensome.

So far in the budget process we've heard about preliminary estimates from most ministries, and they need to catch up....badly. The issue is that income has remained relatively flat (or slightly down) for a number of years, so 2020 income could look the same. We know we'll need to continue to depend too much on building usage income, which is somewhat undependable, and cut back on budget requests.
However, a small increase in giving by enough people will go a long way. The Financial Team suggests a 3% increase to help with inflation in all areas. The "Personal Strategies" form (see article, above) is part of your stewardship. Whether or not you're able to increase your monetary giving, please consider increasing your stewardship in the "Worship, Serve, Grow" strategies. Members and leaders of ministries, teams, and committees are absolutely vital to the life of the congregation. Can you increase your participation by 3%?

As the 2020 budget is planned, and the nominating committee completes its work of recruiting next year's leaders, your gifts of your time, your talents, and your treasure will have a positive affect from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.
