Dear Friends in Christ,

On Sunday September 29th at 4:00 p.m. the people of the Church of the Advent Limestone will gather to celebrate the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels, and to bring to a close Advent's century and a half as a worshiping community.  On behalf of the Church of the Advent and the Diocese of Maine, I invite your prayers and, if possible, your presence at this service.

In making the decision to close, the leadership at Advent understands their season for ministry, at least in the form they have known, must end. At the same time they are comforted in embracing the knowledge their true home is in Christ Jesus our Lord. I hope that rings true for every one of us, in every one of our faith communities. There is grief, of course, but there is also tremendous thanks for all that has been.  We are grateful for their faithful service and ask your prayers for them as they continue their lives as members of other congregations in the Aroostook Episcopal Cluster, as the church building is put to new uses for the benefit of the Limestone community.

With many of our congregations witnessing aging members, and  economic and population decline, we are called by  God to answer our mission to stay the course, providing communities spiritual and practical support and sharing the life-giving message of the Holy Spirit's hope and strength in a world so desperately in need.

May God bless you in your community's worship and witness. Every blessing of peace to you in your proclamation that Jesus has been raised from the dead.

On Christ the Solid Rock We Stand!

Faithfully in Christ,

The Right Reverend Thomas J. Brown
