NEW OnDemand Supervisory Committee Certification launched by  LCUL & Synergy CU Consulting
LCUL and Synergy Credit Union Consulting, Inc. (Synergy) are partnering to enhance the credit union training space with an
online, on-demand supervisory committee certification program. This one-of-a-kind training platform provides credit unions:
  • Content: current, industry-specific material
  • Flexibility: "on-demand" accessibility as opposed to live webinars
  • Affordability: competitive pricing at individual or group rates
  • Takeaways: applicable case studies as supplemental material
  • Incentive: benchmark quizzes for certification purposes
This innovative learning platform offers everything you need to successfully execute your supervisory committee duties at your own pace. Through five instructional modules, participants will discover the attributes of a strong committee member, understand the audit universe, learn more about the month to month tasks, and deep dive into audit reports via case studies. Upon completion, each online student will earn certification from LCUL and Synergy valid for three years.

Bob Gallman, LCUL President/CEO, commented, "We're excited to partner with a progressive company such as Synergy that makes credit union volunteers a priority. Credit unions constantly seek innovative and cost-effective training resources. We are confident this new program will align with the credit union's desire to enhance their volunteers' level of engagement."

Registration for the program is now open. Click here for more information.

Mitigation Risk of the Dark Web Requires Understanding It
The Dark Web is a very mysterious, scary and misunderstood place.  How can you expect to mitigate the risk to your credit union and member's data without better knowledge of what the dark web is and how it operates. At our New Laws and Compliance Conference, Jason Kirby, of TraceSecurity will shine a light onto this black market of information. With better knowledge of this market of information and the understanding of what is of value to these data sellers, you can begin to better mitigate your credit union's risks.

Practical Cybersecurity Solutions Designed for Small Institutions
Small institutions face the same regulations as larger organizations, but with fewer resources and tighter budgets.

Many smaller organizations are being faulted by examiners for not receiving independent assessments and services previously only expected of larger institutions. To combat this, CUNA Strategic Services provider, TraceSecurity, has developed three new services specifically for small institutions that meet the expectations of examiners and are priced reasonably within your budget.

  • Small Institution IT Audit: We've reduced the number of tested controls to optimize this assessment for small organizations while still meeting examiner expectations.
  • Small Institution Network Assessment: Get an internal and external vulnerability assessment followed by an external penetration test to identify the most commonly exploited weaknesses.
  • Small Institution Risk Assessment: Identify threats to a reduced set of assets and the impact and probability of those threats occurring within your IT environment.
