Earth Day 2021
Earth Day is April 22, 2021 and N.C. Cooperative Extension in Currituck is celebrating by providing a series of earth day workshops to help you learn how to make very small behavior changes that can make a big difference in the health of our environment. You can register for just one or multiple classes which are being offered both in person and online.
On Monday, April 19th learn all about Reducing Kitchen Waste. We will discuss ways to cut down on waste from planning and purchasing to eating and storing. Then you will learn what to do with your kitchen scraps, whether it is to compost them or save them for another purpose. Class will wrap up with a demonstration of how to make vegetable stock with your kitchen scraps.
We’ve all heard the saying, “April showers bring May flowers” so let’s learn how to make the most of that plentiful resource! On Tuesday, April 20th adults interested in learning to make larger scale catchment systems for watering gardens or landscapes can join us for our Rain Barrel class. Rain barrels are an excellent way to conserve water and reduce the amount of runoff flowing through your property.
Finally, on Wednesday, April 21st youth are invited to learn about making Mini Rain Barrels. These smaller containers are perfect for harvesting rain to water your container garden or houseplants.
