Baptism Update!
We are currently scheduling family (private) baptisms for our families. Since we do not know when we will be able to gather in community, we want to make sure that the children of our parish are able to enter the church by receiving the sacrament of baptism. Questions? Please contact Julia Rudden at jrudden@stjohnsea.org
Time to register for First Communion preparation! Families: do you have a child who will enter 2nd grade this fall? Or, do you have an older child who has not yet had the opportunity to prepare for the sacrament? If you are registered in the parish and have listed your child as a family member, you should receive a letter with a registration form the week of July 20th. If you don't receive a letter, you can access the registration form on our website, or click here.
Questions? Contact Julia Rudden jrudden@stjohnsea.org
St John is open for Private Prayer
The Church is open for private prayer Tuesdays from 9-11am and 1-3pm.  You don't need an appointment, just drop by for some peaceful time with Jesus.  Click here for guidelines on visiting the church.

We will evaluate as we go along and adjust days and times as necessary.

A podcast presented by Matt Fradd, in which he interviews Bishop Barron on the importance of the Holy Eucharist in our lives
Now is the Time to Serve Our Community! Jesuit Volunteer EnCorps , a program of JVC Northwest, facilitates rewarding opportunities for service, community and spiritual formation for adults 50 and better who are committed to social and ecological justice. We are offering new ways for our members (JVEs) to serve from home during this time of increased need for those who live on the margins. JVEs meet monthly online or in-person, creating spiritual community while staying safe. Our values arise from the Catholic Ignatian tradition and JV Encorps is an inclusive and welcoming community.

Priority application deadline: August 31st.
Opening Retreat in September. For more information visit: www.jvencorps.org

Laudato Si in Action
Recycle

In Chapter One of Laudato Si, Pope Francis states:

We have not yet managed to adopt a circular model of production capable of preserving resources for present and future generations, while limiting as much as possible the use of non-renewable resources, moderating their consumption, maximizing their efficient use, reusing and recycling them. A serious consideration of this issue would be one way of counteracting the throwaway culture which affects the entire planet, but it must be said that only limited progress has been made in this regard.

As I mentioned in prior columns, my approach to consumption of resources can be summed up with these five words: reduce, reuse, renew, rethink, and recycle. In prior columns, I discussed reduce and reuse. It's time to talk about recycle
