The Underground Railroad was a system developed before the Civil War to guide enslaved people to freedom. Although it seems simple the system was expansive, highly secretive, and dangerous. Join us for three lectures at Columbia Crossing to better understand the Underground Railroad network that worked in the Susquehanna National Heritage Area of York & Lancaster Counties.

River Discovery Tours
Our River Discovery Boat Tours have been outrageously popular! We have extended tours through October 13th and added Friday tours. Tickets for the October tour dates will be available on September 16th. You must reserve online.

Susquehanna National Heritage Area and the National Park Service are teaming up again this year to bring the Wilderness Inquiry Canoemobile to Columbia! During the first week of October, we will welcome hundreds of local students to learn about the river and have an amazing on water experience in 24' long, 10-passenger canoes! We welcome the public to come canoeing on  Saturday, October 5th between 8:30 AM and 2 PM. This free session is  open to the public so people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can paddle in the canoes, learn about canoe and water safety, and discover the Susquehanna from a new perspective. Stay for Bridge Bust where you'll find tons of homemade goods, crafts, and food! 

Homeschool Series at Columbia Crossing
Miss Allison will be presenting another great series of programs for homeschool students ages 5-13. Topics focus on the environment, the Susquehanna River and the living systems found along it. Hands-on activities to investigate and form questions about the natural world.  $5.00 per student. Registration is required as space is limited. Online registration is now available!

Fall Fun returns to Columbia Crossing!

Drop in to Columbia Crossing on Saturday, October 26th
between 10:30 and 3:00 for Pumpkin Painting! Unleash your creativity and paint a pumpkin to take home and celebrate fall on the river. We'll have all the pumpkins, paint, glitter and supplies you need to get creative! 

This event is for all ages. Suggested donation of $2 per person/pumpkin.
