ZECHARIAH THE PROPHET – LESSON 13
JERUSALEM – GOD’S HOLY CITY (MOUNTAIN) PART 2
We spoke yesterday of Jerusalem, also called Zion, and how all three major monotheistic religions consider it a city holy to their religion. It is also holy to God. Today we shall begin to look more deeply into its history and its meaningfulness. At a future lesson, we shall look into its place in eschatology (future end-time prophecy).
The first recorded mention of Jerusalem (Jeru-Salem) is found in the fourteenth chapter of Genesis. It is the story of Abram and Melchizedek, placed by Ussher’s calendar calculations to be about 1,946 years before Jesus’ crucifixion (and his “communion sacrament’ at the “Last Supper”).
Abram, who was later renamed Abraham, was returning to his home in Hebron (Canaan) with the spoils of war from his defeat of five Babylonian kings. He was met by Melchizedek, the king of Salem, who brought him bread and wine (the holy sacrament of communion) and he blessed Abram. (Genesis 14:18-20).
Melchizedek (v. 18) “was the priest of the Most High God.” Paul’s account in Hebrews 7:1-3 makes it clear that Melchizedek was a pre-incarnate form (appearance) of Jesus, and that he ruled in Salem as king “of peace” which was the early name of Jerusalem.
“Salem” means “peace” and Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6). He is the giver of peace (John 14:27). “Jeru” means “founded”, hence Jeru-Salem means “founded (of, by) peace.” Jesus had already laid claim to this city and was likely the very reason God had called Abram to Canaan whereby Abraham’s “seed” God would prepare the city for Jesus’ habitation.
The second recorded mention of Jerusalem mentioned its specific location and is found in Chapter 22 of Genesis about 1,905 years before Jesus’ crucifixion. It is the story of Abraham and fourteen-year-old Isaac who was his promised heir from whom the Messiah, Jesus, would descend.
God told Abraham (genesis 22:2) to take Isaac to Moriah to a specific mountain he would be shown. God said, “Take now thy son, thine only (begotten) son (of promise), Isaac…and offer him there for a (sacrifice)…” It was a three-day journey to Mount Moriah where Abraham built an altar, bound up Isaac, and laid him upon the altar. As Abraham took up the knife (vs. 9-12) to slay his son, God stopped him and provided a ram as a substitute, seeing as how Abraham was obedient and would withhold nothing, no matter how precious, from God. This was a foreshadow type of God sacrificing His only begotten son Jesus.
Mount Moriah was located at present day Jerusalem. Golgotha (Calvary’s “hill”) was the “Mount Moriah” where Jesus was sacrificed for our salvation. It was prophetic that Mount Moriah is where Isaac was put on the altar of sacrifice, and where Jesus was sacrificed nineteen centuries later.
Looking again to Zechariah 8:3, God said He returns to Zion (Jerusalem) and “will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem…the mountain of the LORD of hosts, the holy mountain (Moriah),” upon which the city is built and upon which calvary (Golgotha) is located.

STAND UP STAND UP FOR JESUS
The old hymn has probably been sung millions of times in many different languages. “Stand up, Stand up for Jesus.” Our Florida congressmen, Greg Steube, stood up in congress and made a statement that our country has strayed away from what God’s standards are in regards to the “equality act” which isn’t equality at all. Here is the extent of what happened in that session of congress:
(Quoting from a conservative website) “Democrats, irate that the Florida congressman dared to quote the word of God on the House floor, unleashed on Steube. Everyone from Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) to Katherine Clark (D-Mass.), shamed him for being transphobic and intolerant.
But it was Congressman Nadler's response that was the most shocking and revealing. ‘Mr. Steube,’ he said pointedly, ‘what any religious tradition describes as God's will is no concern of this Congress.’"
In other words, take your God and your Bible and leave them out of this.
God’s will is no concern of this congress? Well, his will is all that should matter to a Christian. I thank God for men and women like Greg Steube that have the “guts” to stand up for Jesus and his word. How long will it be before God brings His hand of judgment down on Washington D.C. for its stand against God?
Has a stolen election brought us to our knees? Are congressional bills taking away our rights bringing us to our knees? When we take God out of our lives, out of our schools, out of our government, then we will have nothing but chaos. We cannot have it both ways. We either make a stand for God or we are standing against Him. We cannot be intolerant of sin.
I would say we all need to rise up as Christians and speak out in our local government meetings to the highest court and make a stand for Jesus while we can. I have been in these meetings and have seen the extreme liberals try to influence the community I live in.
When Israel turned their back on God and His word, they were taken captive by their enemies and spent 70 years in exile. We have had warning after warning to get right with God, from Prophets to politicians like Steube. We are in a war for Judeo-Christian liberty and the Bible and its principles.
Let’s make a stand my friends. Let’s take that song into the highways and the byways and turn this country back to God by standing up for Jesus!

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION
I WILL NOT BOW, I WILL NOT COMPROMISE!
~ A Real and Honest Post ~
To keep from ever being tempted to compromise the message that God has given us, from the time we started our ministry in 2010, Darin and I made a decision that we would never rely solely on ministry donations and financial gifts as our source of supply and "income".
And I can say this...with what we have seen and experienced in the ministry realm, especially in the last 7-8 years, I have become increasingly glad that we made that decision, and have stuck to it!
I will walk away from the prophetic, and ministry altogether, and never release another word or preach another sermon, before I will step back and not say what I KNOW the Lord is wanting to be said. I can't, I won't. It has cost me dearly at times to stand firm, but I cannot compromise. I would rather not be a minister, than to be a compromised one. I have to have pure motives, or it doesn't work for me. It is too important for me that He is pleased, for me to worry about whether others are.
There were times where I have questioned and went back to the Father and said "Lord am I wrong...should I not have done that?!" In all humbleness of heart, I truly wanted to make sure I hadn't done or said what I shouldn't have. 100% of the time, He has said, no you had to, I told you to...and that would then be confirmed several times by others saying "The Lord says, you did right, you did what He wanted...stay the course!"
I've seen more ministers and leaders than I care to count, who have bowed to the political spirit that is running rampant in the church today. I have seen people not say things they knew they were getting from the Lord, and that they knew He wanted released, because it may offend the "wrong" people. Sometimes they tell themselves they're just "holding it" for the right time...when in reality it is out of fear of what others will think or say. I've seen leaders not call out and deal with sins and error, which they knew the Lord was showing them to deal with, because of what it might cost them...in money, ministry opportunities, and relationships.
I have seen people in ministry connect (or stay connected) with others in ministry who they knew, or sensed in some way might be compromised...all because they didn't want to jeopardize connections, opportunities, a certain platform, certain influence, and money.
Just so you know...
By the grace of God and by His keeping power, Darin and I will NEVER change the message, or diminish the message that God has given us to give, to appease the people who are hearing it, or to keep some other leaders from being "offended". We will never not say something, or change what we say, because it may cause some in the body to not have us come minister at their church or ministry. We will never NOT release something because a Jezebel spirit tries to rise up to attempt to intimidate and muzzle what the Lord is speaking. (The enemy has attempted this in the past, and it cost us dearly to stand firm, but we did!)
We will never connect with those who we have sensed are compromised in some way, even if they have a larger ministry, a bigger name, a larger influence, more money and opportunities. I have been given the chance to connect with many over the years that had all of these things, and I always had to say "Thanks, but no thanks."
I will gladly stay right where I am, doing just what I'm doing, with the relationships He is building, and the platform He is creating, and not connect with any of the more popular, famous, or "Who's who" in our ministry realms. This is not about climbing some ministry "ladder" for me, where I am seen as successful by my peers or others.
I am here to accomplish that which He has sent me to do...on a large platform, or on the back side of the desert, or in a small village in Zimbabwe. It is irrelevant to me. I am only concerned with taking, and doing, the assignments He has called me to do. Not with building our ministry, not with growing a platform (although yes you are glad when more are hearing the word, but it can never be about that).
I had to become resolute a long time ago, that I would seek to please His heart, even if everyone else was displeased. I am here to make One person alone happy...and that is My Lord. I am here to do the will of Him who has called and sent me, and to make sure I keep clean hands and a pure heart.
I am also praying earnestly that He will raise up many pure-hearted, non-compromising, resolute ones, who are only out to do the will of Him who sent them!

Rise up, rise up saith the lord, for I would say to you that your days of mourning are over. Take off the sackcloth and put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. I have gone before you to make a way that no one else can make. I am opening doors that no man can shut. I have shut doors that no man can open. I would say that you have slain the calves on my altar and now it is time to go full speed forward with the anointing that I have placed on you for this hour. You shall see signs and wonders follow you for I am with you saith the Lord. Look not to man for your supply for I alone am your supply. Look not to man for your strength and joy for I alone am your strength and joy. I have formed you in your mother’s womb for such a time as this, and you have been birthed for this hour. For I will take you to a new level of anointing and you shall surely say look what the Lord has done. Do not look upon men to receive any praise for the praise only comes from me. You and you alone will know that it is I saith the Lord, for even though many have given you a word, they were not all of me saith the Lord, for I am the one speaking to you now. I am the one that has quieted your spirit, and have placed within you the desires of your heart. I am about to bring you across the red sea into a promised land which is full of milk and honey. You shall say, my Lord, look what the Lord has done, and I shall say yes my child it is me because of your faithfulness to follow. There will be giants in this new place, but I would say as surely as I said to Joshua, fear not, for I am with you. Be strong in me my child and the power of my strength. Lean not unto your own understanding, for I am doing a new and mighty thing that will require you to sit at my feet and listen as never before. You shall bring in a harvest that you have never seen as you go forth in my power and my anointing. Do not listen to the coercive words of the enemy for they would distract you and get you off track. Do not listen to the honey dripping from false prophets’ lips for they would distract you and get you off track. Listen only to me and you will be blessed my child. So now rise up, shake off the ashes and sackcloth and go forth in my strength saith the Lord.
