$30,000 Grant Received for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
|
We are thrilled to announce a grant of $30,000 from the Harris Family Fund, as a catalyst for ongoing initiatives at WWf(a)C, to increase diversity, equity and inclusion in WWf(a)C offerings. This grant allows us to put ideas into action!
To reach and engage more Black, Indigenous and people of color, the largest portion of the grant funds will support programs that feature BIPOC guest artists, writers, and speakers. Planning for a four-part series with this focus is currently underway, led by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, chaired by board trustee Ashley Aya Ferguson. Watch for details on these exciting programs.

WINE, WORDS & YOU
Raises $12,300!
Gratitude for the wonderful support of this community and friends near and far for WINE, WORDS & YOU! Thank you to each and every one of you who attended, sponsored, contributed, volunteered, bid at the auction and donated auction items.
$12,300 is the largest amount this event has ever raised, and YOU made it happen! As we all work together to stay connected through difficult times, this helps us continue to lift up your voices--both virtually and with limited
in-person events--and through outreach into the community.
Much appreciation to Wine, Words & You event sponsors Noel Julnes-Dehner, Joe Julnes Dehner and Holly Julnes Williams; Jennifer Sauers; Kathy Wade & Woody Brandt; and Linda Wulff.
Thanks also to Wine, Words & You Committee co-chairs Carol Walkner and Karen Arnold, and committee members Cathy DeFoor, Anita Raturi, Lynne Reckman, Mary Wood-Constable and Linda Wulff.

We Need YOU!
The 10th Annual WWf(a)C VDAY will be held February 25th & 26th, 2022. We are currently soliciting original pieces reflecting the lived experience of the author, including essays, poems, memoir, letters, rants and humor. We aim to represent all writers, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and all genders.
Deadline is December 15, 2021.
Our intention is to hold VDAY as an
In-Person event on two evenings (February 25 and 26). Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and WWf(a)C's adherence to CDC and Ohio Department of Health guidelines, it may be necessary to present VDAY 2022 as a virtual event using the Zoom platform.

Poet Manuel Iris Warmly Welcomed
WWf(a)C Annual Author Series featured poet Manuel Iris on Friday, November 5th, for a hybrid event that was open to all. His reading, discussion and Q&A were available to those attending in-person or virtually. In-person attendees were able to participate in the book signing. It was wonderful to have people back into this nurturing space for a lovely evening! Thanks to Elizabeth and Brian Mannion, whose support made this event possible.

Use Your IRA to Make a Gift
|
|
Are you 70 1/2 or older? Do you need to take a required minimum distribution (RMD) each year from your IRA account? If you love and want to support Women Writing for (a) Change, starting at age 70 1/2, you can make a gift to WWf(a)C and avoid increasing your taxable income with that distribution. If the distribution is made directly from your IRA to a nonprofit organization such as WWf(a)C, the withdrawal is entirely excluded from your taxable income.
Gratitude to those in the WWf(a)C community who make IRA Rollover gifts!
Known as a Qualified charitable Distribution, this transfer can be accomplished easily, and with great tax savings, by contacting your IRA account administrator for a direct transfer to WWf(a)C. As always, please consult your financial advisor regarding your individual situation. To qualify, the funds must be transferred directly from the IRA administrator, or you may write a check from your IRA checkbook. Funds that are withdrawn by you and then contributed do not qualify.
For additional information on this and other ways to give, click here.
