This Sunday, One Service 8:30 am On the Patio behind the Fellowship Hall Mass on the Grass Summer heat is ending, and we at St. Paul's have a lot to celebrate. Come and worship with us in the beauty of God's creation!

Rainbows . . . is the theme!! Come dressed in something colorful. Dave Matthews will be taking pictures! And for our potluck, also bring something colorful. For example watermelon would go in the red section and carrots in the orange section. Be creative and help us make a joy-full display!

And a Ministry Fair Do you want to serve the St. Paul's community and beyond? Are you looking for a new niche in which God might use your talents and passions? Do you wonder what opportunities to serve there are and how to go about volunteering? The ministry fair following our Mass on the Grass is an opportunity for you to gather information from the heads of the various ministries at St. Paul's and, if you'd like, find a new response to God's call to bring what gives you your deepest joy to the world's most profound ache.

Sunday School Starts this Sunday Sunday School will start this Sunday, September 8 from 9-9:45 pm.  Once again St. Paul's will be joining with Trinity Lutheran for our Christian Formation.   Below is a link to register your child.  Next Sunday, we will start with a Godly Play lesson on Noah's Ark. The younger kiddos from Pray and Play (under age 4) have been invited to attend with their parents. Please feel free to do what makes sense for your child, should they become wiggly and need to exit the lesson to move about in the hall.  In addiiton, Tiffany Klijewski (Trinity nursery staff) has graciously offered to help us! After the Godly Play story, we will gather to create a craft. It is to color animals from the ark that will be used to hang in the sanctuary. What is Godly Play? The result of a lifetime of research and practice by theologian, author and educator the Rev. Dr. Jerome Berryman, the Godly Play® method is a curriculum of spiritual practice exploring the mystery of God’s presence in our lives. The Godly Play curriculum engages what is most exciting about religious education: God inviting us into—and pursuing us in the midst of—Scripture and spiritual experience. Godly Play practice teaches us to listen for God and to make authentic and creative responses to God’s call in our lives. Godly Play is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual guidance. Godly Play has a Montessori foundation with 40+ years of research and practice. Godly Play values process, openness, discovery, community and relationships. Godly Play models the worship life, stories, symbols and rituals of Christian congregations. Godly Play allows practitioners to make relevant and personal theological meaning. Godly Play nurtures participants to larger dimensions of belief and faith through wondering and play. If you have any questions, please let me know.  This coming Sunday St. Paul's will be holding one service outside at 8:30 a.m.   Please feel free to send your child at 8:30 am, or when you feel it is appropriate if you want them to attend part of the service. I will be in the Sunday school room starting at 8:15 a.m. A potluck follows with a rainbow of goodies!!!

Episcopal Public Policy Network The moral question of the 21st Century, how do I welcome and care for the stranger, is addressed in many ways across the Episcopal Church. Family Hospitality Network News From Annette Zacharias, Executive Director W here did the summer go? After a long hot summer, kids are back to school and parents are busy getting their family’s school schedules under control. Here at Family Housing Network, August was filled with backpacks and back to school drives from Realities for Children and the Servant’s Heart. These generous partners made sure every child had a new backpack filled with supplies and a new first-day outfit with new shoes. There is nothing like a new outfit, new shoes, and a new backpack to start a child’s school year on the right foot. We have some exciting new things happening here at FHN. We have received a very generous gift of a reasonably priced long-term lease for a new Day Center. The new Day Center will open in January at the corner of Prospect and Lemay and allow us to offer Sunday hours of operation. It is a large and wonderful space. We need someone to help us with professional drawings and funding. We are raising $30,000 to install bathrooms with showers and a kitchen area. We already received new washers and dryers for it! Expanded hours and space to serve the expanded number of families we serve. Please don’t forget the Sherwood House. We have paused construction to raise the last $280,000 needed to complete construction but we hope to complete it by the end of the year. We continue to paint and work on small projects each week but we really need the funds to finish the whole thing. Thank you again for your continued support. ISAAC TRAININGS Help protect the vulnerable among us Saturday, September 7 1. Sanctuary Everywhere: Community Village Awareness session at Foothills Unitarian Please join us to learn of the many ways you can contribute to help asylum seekers be released from detention and adjust to life in our community through the Foothills Unitarian Church's Sanctuary Everywhere program. This session will provide an overview of how we can support asylum seekers while they are detained, how to enable them to be released from detention, the process of creating a village of support around them and their host sponsors, and the various roles, resources and skills needed to directly support and interact with the Asylum Seeker. Colorado Rapid Response training in Fort Collins for new Confirmers and Legal Observers: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Here is  the registration link  to share with your friends and family, and here is the    FaceBook Event . The location will be shared with folks the day before the event. Child care and interpretation will be provided upon request.

Our Joint Eco-Justice Team Presents September Adult Forums on Climate Change                                Sundays 9:00-10:10 a.m. in the Sun Room Sept. 8th- Climate Change, Simple-Serious-Solvable & Spiritual CSU Professor of Atmospheric Science Scott Denning will bring his engaging message on the nature of the climate issue. His presentation will give us all a good foundation on the science behind many of the extreme weather events around the world. In addition, he will add some of his thoughts on why this is also an important spiritual matter. There will be a question and answer session to follow his talk. Sept. 15th-Trees, Water & People in Central America This Fort Collins 21 year old non-profit with a strong community-based development model for helping people in Central America and U.S. Tribal Lands. They will send a staff member to describe what they and their partners are doing in relation to the climate change issue. This should allow for a whole new perspective on why many are being forced to flee that region due to unpredictable climate forces. Sept. 22nd- The Fort Collins Climate Action Plan Carolyn Conant of the Fort Collins Environmental Services Department will bring us up to date on what the Climate Action Plan is all about and how we are progressing as a city toward our climate action goals. She will help us understand ways we can contribute toward reducing our green house gas emissions and respond to questions. Sept. 29th- Carbon Fee & Dividend and Other Climate Solutions Trinity member, retired CSU Statistics Professor and Citizen's Climate Lobby volunteer Phil Chapman will give us some background and details on how a fee on fossil fuel extraction and dividend returned to citizens would be able to help bring down carbon emissions. This is an idea that has been proposed to the U.S. Congress and has gained bipartisan support. In addition, we will conclude the series of forums with a conversation on how we all can do our part to act to mitigate climate change. Interested in these issues? Please join this group , which is a subset of the Joint Social Justice Team. Both groups have members from St. Paul’s, Trinity, and Mary of Magdala. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, August 27, at 5:30 pm in the Fireside Room.
