Reduced Cost Ethics Training for Professional Engineers
To help our members meet their requirements, the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers has launched a new online ethics training for professional engineers at a reduced cost.
This two-hour online video, presented by the NJSPE counsel Larry Powers, will provide you with the two credits required for the ethics portion of your professional engineer license. Once the video is viewed in its entirety, you will be e-mailed a certificate proving you have met this licensing requirement.

If you have received your renewal for next year and are paying by Purchase Order or Voucher, please send all paper work to NJSPE for a signature. You can mail it to NJSPE, 414 River View Plaza, Trenton, NJ 08611 or you can fax it to 609-393-9891. Thank you for your membership!

Claim That NJ Could Save $2 Billion on Roadwork Annually
The report was issued by the Garden State Initiative - a right-leaning nonprofit that's focused on economic development and improving the performance of government. It factored in the D+ rating the American Society of Civil Engineers gave the state for infrastructure and took a look at seven states in the region, concluding that New Jersey has the highest cost of maintenance and construction for its roads and bridges.
Henry Amoroso, executive chair of PEL Analytics who co-authored the report, said the state lacks a centralized system of real planning and prioritization.

400+ businesses join NJEDA's offshore wind registry

More than 400 businesses have joined the New Jersey Economic Development Authority's Offshore Wind Supply Chain Registry.
The EDA, through its Office of Economic Transformation, has been working with the Board of Public Utilities and other agencies on the Offshore Wind Task Force to expand the state's offshore wind industry. The registry
, which was launched less than five months ago, allows companies to publicly indicate their interest and ability to supply services for U.S. East coast offshore wind projects. At the same time, it serves as a resource for companies looking to buy from and partner with New Jersey-based firms.

Governor Murphy, Legislative and Congressional Leaders Call for Federal Funding for Portal Bridge Replacement
Standing alongside state congressional and legislative leaders, Governor Phil Murphy called upon federal officials to join the Murphy Administration in full partnership to help fund the replacement of the 108-year-old moveable Portal Bridge.
"The successful and efficient operation of the Northeast Corridor has profound consequences for our region's commuters and economy, and no bridge improvement project is more consequential to the flow of goods and services than the Portal North Bridge Project,"
said Governor Murphy.

Bohler Engineering relocates in Warren
Bohler Engineering has relocated from one building in Warren to another, according to JLL.
JLL said on Tuesday it has brokered a new lease for Bohler at 30 Independence Blvd., a 206,252-square-foot, six-story Class A office property owned by Griffin Capital Essential Asset REIT II Inc.
The engineering firm, which is relocating from 35 Technology Drive, will take up approximately 35,056 square feet of the first and second floors.

NSPE Leads Coalition to Protect Professional Licensure
The National Society of Professional Engineers bolstered its efforts to protect professional licensing with the creation of the Alliance for Responsible Professional Licensing (ARPL), a new coalition of advanced professions dedicated to informing lawmakers and the public of the importance of rigorous professional licensing standards.
In this partnership, NSPE is leading the charge to educate policymakers on the importance of maintaining standards for complex technical professions like engineering that have a clear impact on public health, safety and welfare. In addition to its ongoing efforts to defend the PE license, NSPE spearheaded this coalition to ensure that professional engineers and other advanced professions are represented amid the growing debate around licensing laws.

It starts from a simple premise, something that has been NSPE's unchanging reason for being since it was founded 85 years ago. It is a premise that should resonate with anyone on the street, regardless of their familiarity (or lack thereof) with NSPE, engineering or licensure: We all deserve to live in a world where we can be confident that the engineering decisions affecting our lives are made by qualified and ethically accountable professionals.
NSPE's unique role in bringing this vision to reality follows in a mission statement of just nine words, in language that is plain and direct: to foster licensed professional engineers in service to society.

It was the largest advocacy campaign on a single issue in remembered NSPE history. More than 100 members joined their voices together in August-individually, in pairs, and in small groups. They educated federal legislators and staffers about the need for professional engineering licensure to protect the public, and they pushed for passage of a federal bill that would do just that.
The NSPE-driven campaign sent members to district offices and the phones, advocating for a bill that would require PE oversight of utility pipelines following the 2018 Merrimack Valley, Massachusetts, gas line explosion.
