MINISTRY ARCHITECTS COMES TO CHRIST CHURCH

Tomorrow  Friday, September 13 & Saturday, September 14

Ministry Architects is one of the premier children and youth ministry consulting firms of its kind. Christ Church is fortunate to have their expertise and guidance starting this fall for the next 14 months. The goal is to bring new energy, insights, and structure to our children and youth ministry programs learning from the experts who have consulted with over 1,000 churches. We begin the process by LISTENING to our youth, parents, and volunteers. We want to hear your voice!

Please join us for one of the listening sessions in the McClain Room at 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka on Friday, September 13:
  • 5th - 12th grade youth are invited at 4:30PM.
  • Parents and volunteers for children & youth ministry will meet at 5:30PM.
Anyone who can't make the Friday sessions can  join the open listening session on Saturday, September 14 at 9AM (Childcare available in the nursery) .  Please contact  Megan or  Melissa  to let us know which session works for you or to make other  arrangements to share your thoughts via email.

If you're looking for a different way to contribute to the success of the Rummage Sale, try serving as a member of the "Security Detail", which provides help, direction and "crowd control" on the Sale Day. It's a terrific way to engage personally with  our Rummage patrons. Three separate three hour shifts (early morning, mid-day and early afternoon) are available.

Interested? Contact Michael Peregrine or Gordon Montgomery.
This Fall Marks the 95th Anniversary of Rummage at Christ Church

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

It's not just a Clint Eastwood movie. It's a way to describe the bargains, the memories, and the bizarre stories, in no particular order, of Christ Church's Annual Fall Rummage Sale.  Long time parishioner Carol Schroeder most fondly remembers...

Kids Connection - Sunday, September 15 at 4PM

Six times throughout the year all 3rd and 4th graders will have the chance to spend time together and connect with their friends and their faith. We follow the seasons of the church year for our themes and activities. On Sunday, September 15, our theme will be appreciating the joys of everyday life. If weather allows, we'll play outside and explore the chapel and churchyard with a scavenger hunt.

Future dates for  Kids  Connection are Oct 20, Nov 17, Mar 15, Apr 19, and May 17. We meet from 4 - 4:50PM in the McClain Room at 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka.

Holy Caffeine to Read The Screwtape Letters
Beginning on Friday, September 13

Holy Caffeine, a study of the Bible for all ages, meets on Fridays from 8:30-9:30AM in the Lea Room at Church on the Hill. After seven years of reading various books from Scripture, we are beginning this year by reading The Screwtape Letters, the book that introduced the world to the Christian writing of C.S. Lewis. Published in 1941, the book is still in print due to its masterful understanding of how our spiritual lives both work and don't work.

The premise of the book is that Screwtape, a senior tempter from Hell, writes letters to his underling Wormwood, a junior tempter recently assigned his first 'patient'. Wormwood schools him along the way as to how he can best win souls away from God, revealing clearly along the way how God works in our lives. Reading this material from the enemy's point of view provides a colorful and creative way to introduce the reader to various aspects of living a life in communion with the Divine.

In addition to the book, readily available in paperback, we will be using a remarkable study guide written by a Lewis devotee which will be available to the class on the first day, Friday, September 13th.

This discussion group meets Friday mornings from 8:30-9:30AM in the Lea Room. Christopher Powell leads the group in the study and discussion of scripture.  All are welcome! For more information, contact Christopher at 847-868-5611.
