1st SATURDAY Art Reception – Elk Grove Fine Arts Center View spectacular artwork during the Art Center’s 9th Annual Open Fine Art Competition Show, March 6th, 4-7pm. Awards presented at 5:30pm!  This year’s Judge, Cynthia Abraham has over 30 years of fine arts experience bringing a multitude of arts education, curating and designing fine art exhibitions and public art programs to municipalities in Northern California. She is currently the Gallery Director and Arts Specialist for the City of Folsom/Gallery at 48 Natoma.  Ms. Abraham has a degree in painting and art history and is herself an artist working in painting, ceramics and fiber. Members and Community Artists will also be showing and selling a variety of original artwork. The show is free to the public and continues through March 25, Wednesday - Saturday 11 am - 4pm at the Art Center/Gift Gallery, at 9683 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove, CA 95624.  For those who cannot attend, Artist Member Erin Martinelli will livestream the awards ceremony on Facebook and Instagram. Artist and Associate Member, Mary Teabo will be creating a still life painting (free demo) from 3-5 PM this Saturday, March 6 in the Gallery.

COMMUNITY ART DISPLAY - MARCH/APRIL  View the March/April (CAD) cycle on display at the Gallery. This is a great opportunity for artists to display their artwork and get reviews by all visitors coming into the Art Gallery during these two-month cycles. Meet the March Artist of the Month - Darrci Robertson I consider myself a sculptor/ceramic artist. My recent work is more autobiographical in nature, where I use characteristics, symbols, and emotions of the woman/ wife/ mother expressing her role in the world. I feel my experience as a mother of two boys and my years of marriage provides me with lots of material which I draw from to create an expressive piece of art. I often hear from people “tell me your story of why you created this piece.” Although I enjoy telling them my story, for me “their” thoughts or interpretations are most important to me! Darrci is also the Curator for the Art Gallery. She prepares and schedules all aspects of all shows while working at the Gallery every day. She is also the Gallery Manager of the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center. Come in a meet Darrci and enjoy her descriptions of all the artwork on display.

Safety First We continue to maintain precautions for all visitors to our Gallery which will include our volunteer staff and our customers wearing masks (if you don’t have one, we will provide one for you). We will be taking customer temperatures at the door and will provide a hand sanitizer. Plus, we continue to practice the 6 ft safe distance.
