En route to her first WTA singles final, the JTCC alumna defeated three seeded players in succession including #4 Tatjana Maria in the second round, #9 Astra Sharma in the quarterfinals, and former British #1 and #11 seed Heather Watson in the semifinals. On Sunday, Arconada again faced Blinkova in the singles final, but ultimately fell short of victory 6-4, 6-2.
"There is no question that these two 20-year-olds will be squaring off in WTA events for many years to come," said JTCC CEO Ray Benton. "Both Usue and Anna represent the next generation of talented WTA future stars. We are proud of Usue's hard work and consistent progress through the rankings based on her solid results.
