Arconada Achieves Career Best WTA Results & Rankings
Reaches Singles & Doubles Finals in New Haven

Usue Arconada enjoyed the most successful week of her professional career at the WTA $125,000 Oracle Challenger Series tournament in New Haven playing her way first to the doubles final and then to the singles final, which also resulted in new career high WTA rankings in both doubles and singles.

What made the dual finals all the more interesting was the fact that Arconada faced the same opponent, Anna Blinkova, in both events.

Arconada partnered with fellow American Jamie Loeb for the first time to contend for the doubles title. The American duo had an astonishing week ousting the #1 seeds Eri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya 6-3, 6-1, prior to facing the #2 seeds Blinkova and Oksana Kalashnikova in a thrilling three-set final which was won by the Russian and Georgian duo, 6-2, 4-6 (10-4) on Saturday.

En route to her first WTA singles final, the JTCC alumna defeated three seeded players in succession including #4 Tatjana Maria in the second round, #9 Astra Sharma in the quarterfinals, and former British #1 and #11 seed Heather Watson in the semifinals. On Sunday, Arconada again faced Blinkova in the singles final, but ultimately fell short of victory 6-4, 6-2.

"There is no question that these two 20-year-olds will be squaring off in WTA events for many years to come," said JTCC CEO Ray Benton. "Both Usue and Anna represent the next generation of talented WTA future stars. We are proud of Usue's hard work and consistent progress through the rankings based on her solid results.
